5 men arrested for involvement in forced prostitution case

Saitama prefectural police have arrested five men for their involvement in a case in which an 18-year-old girl was held captive and then forced into prostitution.

Police said they have arrested 29-year-old ramen shop manager Yuta Shimada, Yoshiaki Ogino, 28, and three others. Fuji TV quoted police as saying that Shimada forced the girl who had run away from home, to live in an isolated house in Kawagoe City, Saitama Prefecture. There, Shimada forced the girl to prostitute herself to three customers aged 42 to 60, who he had contacted via an online dating forum.

One of the five suspects arrested, Atsuo Kishii, 29, and two 15-year-old girls were also charged with possession of marijuana.

Police said that last June, the 18-year-old victim was found flushing the body of her aborted fetus down the drain of a public toilet and arrested for illegal disposal of a corpse, Fuji TV reported. Following her arrest, the girl told police that she had been kept captive and forced to sell her body to almost 200 male customers over a period of four months.

Police said Shimada and the other four suspects had at least 10 other young girls in the area working as prostitutes.

Disgusting and sad

So sad. Makes me wonder how she didn't escape. Surely there would have been many chances? 200 men in 4 months? Damn...You know all those clients??? Yeah arrest them and charge them all with rape.

Vile! No plea deals at trial for these losers.

This makes me sick to my stomach. Hope these criminals never see the light of day ever again and these girls get the proper counselling that they need.

This is one of the sad stories that reveals the human condition. 200 customers used this girl with no human feeling. At least not enough to turn in the lowlifes and help release this poor girl.

Ah, saitama! Let's hope their penalties match the crime.

All the customers share some guilt also. It must have been clear she was not pleased to perform. Or there is more of this story.

As long as their are customers the crimes with young girls will continue.

Mark- Why "must have"? Usually forced prostitution involves high levels of violence and threats of violence, making the women do as they are told. This includes making it a good experience for the john, not complaining. If Brad Pitt or Michelle Pfeiffer can act, why not the prostitute?

ham- It is unlikely the customers were told it was forced prostitution, as somebody with a conscience would have told eventually.

Girls are also commonly fed addictive drugs, meth etc, to keep them wanting to be with their pimp and hooking, so they can get more of their drug. Another reason for them to not appear to want to leave.

The girls were probably beaten into submission so they lost will to escape, or belief in their ability to escape. Also likely the girls might be afraid to leave their "sisters" behind, being told, "one of you escapes, and the others will be whipped!" = guilt, or also keeping an eye on each other and tattling, to prevent getting beaten.

It is likely a whole complicated world these girls were in, not something they could just press a button and leave like that.

Glad they got out. Other yaks will be waiting to take their place, tho, unfortunately...

Ah, saitama!

There' always one, isn't there?

A horrible crime has been committed but it's more important to you to comment that it happened in Saitama. Classy.

Wrong country to have such high hopes for this type of crime.

It is pretty scary that the customers did not notice anything strange. I think that there is nothing wrong with prostitution, as long as it is straightforward for all partys concerned. But sex slavery is an entirely different story. How did these guys plan to eventually let the girls go? It seems to me that murder was also on the menu there. Absolutely horrible.

williB

Like I said, they are made to act. The lonely guys going to hookers may also not be so sensitive.

This is very common in the sex trade, generally the women are used until they are old and haggard (usually by drug addiction or violence, not real age) so anywhere from 25 to 35 yo they will be "let go" to fend for themselves. I don't think they usually are murdered.

I cant believe the cops have arrested this poor girl, "Police said that last June, the 18-year-old victim was found flushing the body of her aborted fetus down the drain of a public toilet and arrested for illegal disposal of a corpse," this girl will need help to regain some sort of normality in her life, the last thing she needs is a criminal charge to add insult to injury!! What happened to good old common sense?
