6 teenage bikers arrested after baiting police with fake call

Six members of the Nishiarai biker gang, aged between 15 and 18, were arrested in Tokyo's Adachi Ward on Tuesday for violation of the Road Traffic Act. Members of the gang themselves called police, posing as residents to complain that bikers were roaring around the streets, disturbing the neighborhood, and requested that a patrol car be sent to the neighborhood.

After a police car arrived, the gang began playing what they call a "PC Game," which comes from the initials of patrol ca' and refers to the Japanese biker gang habit of taunting and baiting police cars.

Police eventually arrested the youths and learned that they were the same gang involved in an incident that occurred on Nov 12 last year at around 11:50 p.m. when bikers rode along streets, ignoring red lights for roughly one kilometer while being filmed by video cameras.

One gang member was quoted by police as saying, "We did it to feel the thrill of a police chase. I've done it two or three times before."

"WE did it to feel the thrill of a police chase"

How's the thrill of the police station cell?

If you're under 21 you won't be doing any time

--- they are decent people for most of them. Most of them though are quite still young and it is a matter of authority that those kids dont have from their parents

I love it when these "bikers" have their little boyfriends riding on the back of their seats, and they start reving those engines. So adorable.

Ignoring red lights for 1km while being filmed by police????? No wonder the police aren't respected in Japan. What a joke.... and if "normal" otherwise law-abiding people run a red light in front of a cop we get ticketed.

They certainly wouldn't want to feel 'the thrill' in other nations where police deal with these things with more of a firm hand. In the US they'd either pull over immediately or potentially be rammed off the road (or face a road block), or maybe even get shot at.

Not knowing the full story, I can't say anything for certain, but I highly doubt the police would be cruising along behind them for one hour with a video cam and not arrest them. It's more likely that this quoted incident was filmed by unmanned cameras at the traffic lights or something. Like I said, not enough information.

@smithinjapan

You are totally right. Acting brazenly in front of an American cop or New Zealand will get you a one way ticket to world of hurt. Tossing that cigarette at a police car or throwing up the finger will get you the Rodney King treatment or the good ol'fashion chokehold.

Then again, you can't expect them to police their own sons. Nippon!

Yet another reason to be grateful that I don't live in the good ol' US of A.

Actually, vinnyfay, I have to apologize, because I wrote that comment knowing that this is what they do in some cases here in Japan. I saw a quick clip on a preview commercial for a reality tv show where J-police were riding along side a bunch of bousouzoku hooligans, and actually snapping pictures of them. I didn't catch the show itself so I don't know what happened after wards, but I've heard that catching these guys is very rare because J-cops have to stop pursuing once a chase starts to get out of control to prevent injury to innocent bystanders. Also, bike gangs generally scatter and use smaller roads or paths to evade police when they really want to get away.

There are a lot of cute Bosozoku guys. They always talk to me. Fun being half sometimes.

Absolutely right!!! In Thailand or Singapore, I can't remeber which, there was a growing problem with bosozouku acting stupid in thier streets. The cops there started beating them down with steel poles in the street. From what I understand, there are no more bosozoukus there.

So beating guys up is a good way to control crime? Considering that Singapore has some of the toughest fines and punishments on earth.

Forgot to add.

People that think like that I say welcome to the old Testament and Sharia law.

Zenny11, I don't know about beating people up to control crime. However, I'd beat the hell out of these punks just for fun!...and have done it too. They stay well away from me when I'm on the street at night. And if I go to a combini where there parked all over the place and eating there cup ramen by the enterance, they'll open up walkway when they see me coming.

Also, Sharia Law and Old Testament? Nope, I don't believe in religion, however, I can bring some hell on these motorcycle #$%@#%# if they get in front of me.

Bosozoku? Ha Ha. Just baby bikers. "Support your local 81" - NOT!

Gurukun.

No need to beat up on them to get them to leave you alone. ;)

Those kids are simply teens trying to push the limits. Heck, most of us did too at that age.

Be confident in yourself and they will back off.

Japan is a pretty boring place for youth........

Police eventually arrested the youths...

By this, I take it that there was a chase? Must have passed below my window last night. They were sure after someone. I live 10 minutes from Nishiarai. I'll sure be glad to move away from the busy street we live on come September cause of those "cute,"(as ihavegreatlegs claims) annoying as heck, bosozoku. Sometimes they are pretty amazing to watch, though. I counted 50 of them one summer buzzing, blasting and braying past us at the beach in Chiba.

If they want real thrill i recommend them to play pc in arabian countries, myanmar north korea and i am sure the police there will show them stars.

They get away with annoying 1000's of people. They disturb and wake up children, babies and cause parents to feel tired and miserable.

bousouzoku is just kids having fun!

Yeah right. If they have not got the brains to work out how much stress and suffering they cause to the average working family, they deserve to have the living daylights knocked out of them. I think they are selfish idiots with no respect for anyone.

Oh yeah, apparently, the police have to be very careful when chasing them. About 7~8 years ago in Maebashi, one of the little boy racers got killed whilst being chased by the police... With this being Japan, instead of cracking down on the annoying bike gangs, the police were issued with orders to follow and gather evidence, and only to arrest if they represent a real danger to the public.

So the "I have no balls" police contribute in making noise with their sirens blasting out whilst simply just following the gangs and taking photos. The real problem here is that these gangs know the police can't do much about them. What a pathetic situation.

TIJ = This Is Japan.

I don't see anything fake about the call...

the Nishiarai biker gang

I have a suspicion these guys are not gonna be any match for the Hells Angels any time soon! Admittedly, Ive never seen this "gang", but I'm getting images of 60kg cowboys, with waxed eyebrows, riding around in those Nazi-style helmets, harassing schoolkids.

ignoring red lights for roughly one kilometer

Heck - thats what all the car drivers do here in my city, so no big difference!

I wish something would be done about this biker brats, It's annoying that Me and my Husband barely get enough sleep due to work and school but to be woken up at 2 am because they want to ride around making noise is just unacceptable and it ticks me off the police don't do anything about it.

tokyokawasaki: Agreed. It's like these idiots are getting a police escort. (generally speaking of course... not in this particular case)

Several years ago a Okinowan police officer was actually fired for knocking one of these jerks off his bike AFTER a glass bottle was tossed at him. Most of the public complained about the firing of the police officer, but the stupid city (Ginowan) would not bring him back on.

Figures you fire the good ones, and keep the lackies and slackers.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Boys will be boys. They should try Taxi surfing. The police should not take it so serisoly(bad spelling). Maybe if they had something better to do with their time othan chasing teenager this would be a non issue.

I've seen these type of morons before, they ignored red lights, reved their engines and just went through the lights, what I couldn't understand is the cars stopped for them, if I was at the front of the light I would have stopped my car to block the road... I hate these types of idiots.

Talk about idiots, the thrill of a police chase?? Let them try this BS over in the USA etc..so how a good old fashioned police beating, angry German Shepard police dogs tearing up your nicest Levis etc..feels like a real thrill??

Kudos to Gurukun. More like him please... (sorry nicelegs)
