600 kgs of rice stolen in Yamagata

YAMAGATA —

Police in Yamagata said Monday that a delivery truck was robbed of 600 kilograms of “koshihikari” white rice in Tendo City on Sunday.

Police said the truck was parked in the delivery company’s private lot, and that 20 bags containing 30 kilos each were stolen, a value of approximately 160,000 yen, TV Asahi reported.

The rice was destined for Tokyo. The delivery company says it noticed the rice was gone when employees conducted a routine check at approximately 10:30 a.m. The company says the door of the truck had been unlocked.

Must be an inside job unless it was a regularly scheduled weekly delivery. Stealing 20 bags of 30 kilos rice is not a spur of the moment job!

Somebody is stocking up. One bag is too heavy to lift. Less no 20 bags @ 30kilo each. How come Nobody saw anything you need at least 2 or 3 or even 4 guys to do a quick unload. The truck was in the parking lot conveniently unlocked and all. Oh well maybe the back of the truck was in a blind spot.

Look for a big Onigiri sale and you will find the bad guys.

I think that was a really stupid idea. Radiated rice from Yamagata? Maybe another case of family suicide?

"The company says the door of the truck had been unlocked."

Well then, whose fault is it?

Anyway, it was probably an inside job. Now they can repackage it as coming from somewhere else and sell it for a mint.
