Dunno whether he was an old fogie or not (you can be 30 and a fogie), but at 61 he wasn't an OAP. He wouldn't have been eligible for a pension for another few years.

Don't really know what to make of this. It doesn't sound like he was attacked for his money.....

Sounds like somebody had a grudge. Breaking a window to get at the guy would seem to indicate it may not have been random. No money stolen, better check the wife. Maybe a jealous lover???

Now class from this story we can conclude:

    a. Gun control in Japan is working because NO Guns means NO Crime. (Apparently people being stabbed by knife isn't much of a crime in Japan).

b.apparently being a restaurant owner is VERY dangerous occupation in Japan because there have been two other stories in the last 5 days of a restaurant owners being stabbed to death.

He was self-employed. Wouldn't he have been eligible for a pension after 40 enrollment periods? That is possible, but I don't claim to know the answer.

I would assume his life insurance and his personal savings would be a much larger sum than the pension.

You have to have 40 years of payments to be eligible for the full pension, but age is also a factor. Pension used to be paid from age 60, but it's gradually being raised; a person retiring this year will not receive a pension until they reach 64. So he wasn't an OAP.

Pension or life insurance! Either way, the first suspect would be his wife, then his kids, then his mates. It's also a little odd that he was found in a hospital carpark. Why was he there?
