None of you will graduate from the ACME Crime Academy. This oldster is not a molester or very dangerous.
He is probably angry at his abacus wife or facing a divorce. The motive for the crime is embarassment or escape.
He is not a sex fiend.
Just because the victim happens to be female there is no reason to believe that the sex crazed ogre grabbed her for his satisfy his primeval needs.
It is important to try and UNDERSTAND the crime BEFORE rushing to judgement!!!!!!!!!
It would certainly make the posts her more interesting if all the Japan experts tried to look at what happened AS WELL AS what didn't happen.
In this case there was no violence, no attempt at hiding the girl, not cut and paste ransome letters. The fudge had the girl call her mommy on the cell phone which he knew would be traced by the police. I suspect he wanted to put his wife out of work and himself in a home away from her.
He might be the victim of unfair divorce laws or some such thing.
Anyway the message here is clear THINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
fatloser, so you're saying this is like the kid who hijacked the bus to get back at his parents? This guy hijacked a 16 y/o to get back at his ex wife? Or like that guy that killed his girlfriend to get back at.....ok that's a bad example, but I think I get your point. Kind of like that kurt vonnegut story about the old timer who went to prison on purpose becasue that was the only place with peace and quiet...
I think it should be considered.
There are some strange crimes in Japan which are done with non-criminal intent---such as the bus jacking!
A first rate example,thank you!!
Sounds fishy, perhaps some thing along the lines of the child teamed up with the dude to get some pocket money from her parents or perhaps just used him.
cwhite, I hadn't thought of that. young sexy 16 y/o sweet talks gramps into making the ransom phone call, then ,tee hee, changes her mind, oh dear, what was I thinking, she must have said, oh well, tee hee, I didn't do anything wrong, and grampa was looking at me kind of funny tee hee
The dude was 63. All she had to do was punch him out! What a joke.
"The girl once learned how to use the abacus at Ichikawa’s home, according to police"
WTF???
they don't teach kids to punch out adults. Too bad, maybe some of the "cut your hair" freaks would get caught too. At least the girl is home safe. This guy definately wasn't thinking clearly. Warped mind at best.
I always love how people armchair quarterback these things "punch him out" etc, the problem is you weren't there, you don't know the exact circumstances to it, hey some 63 year olds are still active, did he have a weapon, did he come from her in behind and throw her into a lock room, where he was not present, again there's a bazillion scenarios.
Almost 7 billion people on this little planet which is 3/4 water. I'm surprised there isn't more of this sorta stuff; especially since a great majority of them have been raised by TV. The whole world is insane except thee and me and I ain't too sure about me.
Maybe this old dude is a retired benjo pumper. Methane is bad for the brain.
Maybe this guy is like 90 year old groucho Marx with his 20 year old wife. He just kept her around to look at.
You gotta laugh at the dopes who actually thought this was a sex crime just becasuse a high school girl was involved. We all now know exactly where your mind is at. --Cirroc

You can tell this was his first time. How on Earth could she have called her mother in such captivity???? Sounds like he missed the course.

I think the guy was madly in love with the girls mother. He didn't realise it yet because it was buried so deeply within his subconcious.
The daughter could pick up on the vibe though she couldn't quite understand it.
He blew it when he threatened "...your daughter will die."
That woke them up.

The police acted fast using a GPS tracker. Elderly turning to crime is sad.
