66-year-old man turns himself in after fatally stabbing wife

KANAGAWA —

A 66-year-old man was arrested for murder on Monday, after he allegedly stabbed his 65-year-old wife in her neck in their Sagamihara City home.

Koshin Sugano went to the Sagamihara police station at around 3.30 p.m. Monday and told police he had stabbed his wife. Officers took Sugano back to his home where they found his wife on the bed bleeding from her neck and a knife on the bedside table. Police said she was already dead and estimate she was stabbed about an hour before Sugano turned himself in.

Sugano was quoted by police as saying: “She had suffered depression for about five years and kept saying she wanted to die.”

Why do people here like to stab in the neck?

  • martyman at 11:21 AM JST - 13th October

The same reason why they wait until their victim is asleep in bed. A 66 year old man with no courage to face his wife before putting her out of her misery.

Unfortunately, this story may have a folowup in the next few months stating "66 year old man commits suicide leaves a note saying he is lonely without his depressed wife he stabbed earlier this year"

Officers took Sugano back to his home

WTF??? guy comes to the cop shop saying he stabbed his wife, so they saunter back there with the guy in tow...

You'd think maybe they's get his address, cuff him to a chair or something, meanwhile sending the paramedics, and high tail it over there to see if they could save her.

But oh no, the on-top-of-things-cutting-edge j-stones mosey on back with the perp.

    Ridiculous

Well, at least it wasn't, "My wife nagged me and wouldn't pass me the remote".

    Lots of major arteries.

Right after her husband retired. Ouch.

The missus: "I'm depressed, have been for five years but I can't bring myself to kill myself.... will you do it?"

    The perp: "Umm, OK."

Unleeeeess... that was just a story the perp cooked up in hopes of being let off.

This article lacks an important background info. This couple had a 40 year old son who was suffering from Lou Gehrig's disease and was on life support. The wife let him die by cutting him off the life support, after being repeated begged by the son. She was then charged for murder. That's what happened 5 years ago.

Heck, whatever happened to "for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to cherish and love til death do us part"?

  • forinagai at 10:48 PM JST - 13th October

Maybe he took the initiative with the "til death do us part" clause? Bring it forward a coupla years.

She may have asked him to do it. It happened in the early afternoon so, unless she was taking a nap, it wasn't bedtime as your "The same reason why they wait until their victim is asleep in bed" statement suggests.
