Police in Hiroshima have arrested a 73-year-old man on suspicion of murder after he stabbed his 68-year-old brother to death on Wednesday night.
According to police, the attack occurred on the street in Higashi Ward at around 9 p.m. Fuji TV reported that the suspect, Kazuaki Sumimoto, got into an argument with his brother Takuzo and stabbed him more than 20 times in the chest, stomach and other parts of his body.
A passerby witnessed the altercation and called 110. The victim was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police found a a bloodied knife nearby and arrested Sumimoto, who was drinking alcohol. He has denied the charges, saying that he did not stab his brother.
