75-year-old man held for allegedly slashing daughter in face with knife
SAITAMA —
A 75-year-old man has been arrested in Saitama for allegedly slashing his daughter’s face with a knife on Friday, police said Saturday. Police are also investigating the man’s involvement in cases of assault and arson.
According to a TV Asahi report, the man, who has been identified as Takamitsu Sakamoto, was arrested after being seen standing in a field near his home brandishing a fruit knife with a 12-inch blade at around 3:05 p.m. on Friday.
Police allege that shortly before his arrest, at around 2:55 p.m., Sakamoto slashed the face of his eldest daughter, 50. She proceeded to call the police, and Sakamoto was arrested by an officer patrolling nearby, TV Asahi reported.
During police questioning, Sakamoto reportedly alluded to having been involved in an arson case. Police believe Sakamoto might have been involved in the destruction of a 300-square- meter, 2-floor, wooden property, and are currently investigating the possibility of his involvement in several other cases of arson.

The geriatric crime wave continues in Japan. It makes me wonder just what percentage of gerries have lost their marbles. I meet plenty that do have some 'reality issues'. My favorites are the zoomers that walk around the streets having a good old yarn with their imaginary friend/s. One dares not speak with them.
