Cars, cash stolen from luxury import car dealership in Ibaraki
IBARAKI —
Police said Monday that a luxury import car dealership in Tsuchiura, Ibaraki Prefecture, was robbed Sunday of cars, cash and other belongings worth around 8 million yen.
Police said they received a call from an employee of the dealership reporting the robbery, TV Asahi reported. Police said that a crowbar-like implement was used to wrench open a door on the second floor of the property. According to investigators, a safe containing the previous day’s takings and other items were stolen.
Three Mercedes Benz cars, used as display models, were also stolen from the showroom, TV Asahi reported.
A police spokesperson said the robbery took place between 9 p.m. on Saturday, when the last employee left the premises, and around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday when the first employee arrived.

Security systems, CCTV cameras?
And ... a stolen safe and the getaway car? The thief or thieves seem to know their way around the area.

They might want to confirm that.

Looks like the robbery was a cover for the real targets, the cars. The cars will either have been stripped down by now, or intact , and already in containers on there way to ???

According to the book "Confessions of a Yakuza", Tsuchiura is a place where the organization has a foothold.
Maybe because of the new tougher rules, they could not buy their winter tires any more so they needed replacement cars.

Something is wrong with the numbers. Were those very old Benzes?

I was thinking the same thing...I would think that MB would be impossible to steal with all of the electronics and security built into them

I would rather think that JT made a logical typo in the news story which actually meant:
cash and other items worth 8 million yen were stolen aside from the 3 cars.

My bad.
3 second hand cars including an MB, a mini-cooper (about 5.3 million yen), the safe and some precious metals (about 1.5 million yen) and about 1.4 million yen cash has been reported stolen.
Old cars indeed.

I think robbers might having idea of those things kept in luxury cars. Actually such types of cars have a good security to avoid such things.
