An 86-year-old man was found dead in his house in the city of Nakama, Fukuoka Prefecture, in an apparent homicide, police said Monday.

According to police, Sachio Ayado was found on Sunday, lying on the floor near his bed, by a friend who had come over to visit, Fuji TV reported.

Police said Ayado had a stab wound in his chest. Autopsy results have determined the cause of death was hemorrhagic shock, leading police to treat the case as homicide.

There was no sign of the house being ransacked and no valuables are reported missing, officials close to the investigation revealed.

I hope it doesn't turn out that a family member killed him. RIP old man.
