So the mother fulfilled her daughter's wish out of love and mercy?

DECLARATION ON EUTHANASIA By Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith *It may happen that, by reason of prolonged and barely tolerable pain, for deeply personal or other reasons, people may be led to believe that they can legitimately ask for death or obtain it for others. Although in these cases the guilt of the individual may be reduced or completely absent, nevertheless the error of judgment into which the conscience falls, perhaps in good faith, does not change the nature of this act of killing, which will always be in itself something to be rejected. * http://www.catholicinsight.com/online/political/euthanasia/article_321.shtml

This statement would be true for all moral acts contrary to natural law. Let us never judge individual circumstances.

If the daughter wanted to die, she could have taken a lot of those pills and did it all by herself.

a 91 years old mother in charge of care of a 61 years old mentally ill daughter !? there is something wrong here !

cases like this parent is always worried who would look after their ill/disabled child, even 61yr old, once they gone themselves. I know someone who was in such prediciment.Even though care is availble put loved on in hospital would be last resort for some. looking after disabled person is 24hrs a day, how would a 91yr old do this? she must have been a super mum. So i feel sorry for both daughter and mother.

I can't imagine what a difficult situation they were both in. I think it's one of those cases that you really cannot judge unless you are in their shoes. Who knows how deeply they both might have been suffering? I hope the daughter is at peace now.

I am never in favor of murder. Ever, however in this case, its a hard call to make. A 91 year old woman having to take care of her mentally handicapped 61 year old daughter. Its very hard to fault the mother. She has taken care of her for more then 60 years. Knowing she won't be around on this earth much longer, knowing she is leaving behind someone unable to care for themselves, its not hard to understand why. I still don't think its right, but I do understand it.
