A 92-year-old male patient in a hospital in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, was beaten to death while in his bed, police said Tuesday, adding that another patient was being questioned.
According to police, the victim, Masaharu Fukui, was found by a nurse in a private room at around 11 a.m. Monday in Ehime Seikyo Hospital, Fuji TV reported. Police said he was bleeding from the head and died of his injury about one hour later.
Another patient, a man in his 70s from the next room, was found in Fukui's room. Police said they are questioning him to see if there was any trouble between the two men.
Fukui, who had pneumonia, had been transferred from another hospital on April 26.

The locals pride their prefecture for its sumiyasui qualities...

Struck to death in the hospital?! Well, Strike me pink! I think he would never have guessed that he'd be beaten to death in the patient's bedroom.
Amidalism
I'm sure this next door patient is going to say something along the lines of: "His constant coughing was annoying so I murdered him."
He probably didn't have much longer to live in the first place at that age with pneumonia. What a horrible way to go out.
