one other thing that was mentioned on Japanese blogs was that she did apparently have a broken rib..which may support his statement that he attempted cardiac massage.Either way,he and his manager waited 3 hours before doing something that may have saved this young lady's life...something you might expect from drugged-out panicky kids but not from supposedly responsible adults.

The guy's not going to do any time. It's DEFINITELY going to be one of those, "Since he has suffered enough..." followed by the words every Japanese celebrity criminal hears, 'suspended sentence'. Nori-p will get the same, as did Kusanagi, and Komuro, and on and on. The latter two are already back on track, more famous than ever, and making heaps of money.

Police and prosecutors continue investigating whether Oshio dealt with the situation properly.

Eh ? You mean that he isn't going to be charged with the death of the girl found in his apartment whilst he was doing drugs ? They are only considering whether he dealt with the situation properly ! And gave him bail !!

That drug messes people up, so he may not have even been aware that she was dying. Perhaps he hallucinated that she was dancing. One never knows when one plays with that compound.

Yelnats: But he called his manager and went out, so I think he is aware but he was more worried about his carreer ,he doesn't even seems sorry to what he did ! this guy should be executed!

  • herefornow at 02:45 PM JST - 1st September

bobbafett -- noypikantoku has it nailed. Whether she did the drugs willingly or not has nothing to do with whether or not he should have had more concern for her well being. She was obviously worth picking up and likley having sex with. But because she may have OD'd on her own, he can just forget his obligation to help another human being?

Whoa, the guy's still wearing raver sandals! He's not sorry at all!

  • northlondon at 03:30 PM JST - 1st September

Why are the prosecutors assuming that the girls death was her own doing and because of her misadventure ? There are two people involved here. One has died and therefore cannot give evidence or defend herself. The other is alive and is telling lies to the cops.

  • biglittleman at 04:55 PM JST - 1st September

It is simple. He plead guilty on plea bargain. He will plead guilty and get only get convicted for the lighter charge. If he didn't then they would have to go after the other things. Like, murder or the fact cocaine was found in the apartment. That would mean they have to investigate the owner of the apartment who is a company president. The president has connections which mean the police and lawyers would need to really work for the conviction. We all know that ain't happen.

So Oshio sacrificed himself to save the company President.

I'm glad someone brought this point up. I don't think I can link the article from another news site here, unfortunately. The article stated that investigators found she had a broken rib, which they believe is a result of Oshio's attempts at administering some form of CPR. This certainly seems to indicate the actions of a panicked fool being shocked out of his drug induced stupor; while it doesn't excuse him or the manager, I don't know if you can chalk it up entirely to willful, cold blooded inaction.

    Good post, Osakadaz.

The article stated that investigators found she had a broken rib

This is only an allegation. And if it were true then his lawyers would jump all over the fact that he tried to save her life with CPR, which they didn't, which means that he didn't. A womans dead body, in an apartment with him, after taking drugs, with a broken rib. How much more do the cops need to nail him ?

    herefornow,

he can just forget his obligation to help another human being?

if they were her drugs as he says, and he had no idea she was a user before he picked her up for sex then she is on her own.

  • womanforwomen at 11:18 PM JST - 1st September

That is the risk you take when you pick someone up fo sex. He is responsible until their "contract" is performed. After that if she died, then that"s a different story. Until she was in his custody, he takes the responsibilty.

I was also wondering why he wasn't charged with something in relation to the woman's death so I did a little research. In the US and the UK (and presumably other countries likve Japan) a person can be charged with 'criminally negligent manslaughter' if the person allows someone to die and fails to act as a reasonable man would. And where the person has a duty to the victim. In addition, 'a high degree of negligence is required.' It sounds to me that this would be rather difficult to prove in this case. My guess is that the police didn't think they would be able to convict him on negligent manslaughter and therefore did not charge him.

My question is why did he been over and touch his shoes in a "mega bow" as he addressed the media in front of the police station upon his release?

A simple smile or wave would have surficed. Job well done.
