Actor Yuma Ishigaki arrested for assaulting police officer

TOKYO —

Yuma Ishigaki, 26, who has appeared in popular dramas “Gokusen” and “Ikemen Paradise,” was arrested for assault and obstructing a police officer on Saturday morning, it was learned Monday night at a press conference held by his agency HoriPro in their Shinjuku office.

According to police and Horipro, Ishigaki started drinking with three male friends in his Tokyo residence at around 11.30 p.m. on Friday night. Two female friends later joined them and they went to an izakaya in Kabukicho, where they stayed until about 5 a.m. Saturday morning. When Ishigaki went to pay the bill, he couldn’t find his wallet and he asked one of the staff to help him find it. He then got in an argument with a male employee and allegedly punched him several times in the forehead.

Staff called the police and when they arrived, found Ishigaki out of control and asked him to go the police station for questioning, to which he agreed. But when he got out of the police car at the Shinjuku police station, he fell over, and then kicked an officer in the mouth, causing a laceration, police said. Ishigaki was arrested instantly.

Ishigaki was also charged with assaulting the izakaya staff, and was released from custody Monday. His parents picked him up at the police station, about which Ishigaki said “I felt the weight of what I’d done by the look in my parents’ faces…I’ve never seen them look like that before.”

Dressed in a black suit at the press conference Monday night, Ishigaki said “I was drunk, so I can’t remember clearly, but I remember getting angry over my wallet. I’ve disappointed all my fans, the people I work with…it was very immature of me.”

Bowing numerous times, he added: “Don’t toss me aside. I’ll reform myself. I’m not going to drink for a while.”

A Horipro PR spokesman said, “We’re considering what action to take. For the time being he will be stepping down from all activities.”

    1) This guy is an actor, and the best he can do on a saturday night is a 2:1 guy to girl ratio?

    2) this guy kicked a cop in the face, how exactly does that happen?

    3) where were his 3 male friends while he was punching the izakaya guy in the forhead? What wasn't he arrested for that? And why didn't they simply cough up for the bill?

4)This guy only admitted to getting angry over a wallet, he didn't apologize for assaulting the staff nor the cop.

This actor lost his plot or smoke pot? He needs treatment with shrink. Who he thinks he is? Above the law such people like him they think that they are above the law and that their money can by everything. If I was his judge I would lock him up for a while, to taste what life is all about. Someone has to teach him a lesson, and make him an example for others in the same game as his. ‘Stars do shine only at night.’

techall... I found his wallet, and get this. There was a rolled up pinner of a leafy, cigarette-like substance inside. I turned this in to the local authority to see what would happen, but alas, nothing has so far.

Hey, this is Japan. He apologized on TV. All is forgiven. Though in a perfect world I would've loved watching this "tarento" get tasered and zipcuffed on youtube. Alas, this is Japan.

  • mindovermatter at 08:33 AM JST - 19th November

Released to his parents....? He's 26 years old...

Obviously this isn't the u.s.... or literally any other country in the world... When you strike a police officer, you better be prepared to get the crap kicked out of you.... He would still be recovering in a hospital, had it been any where else in the world...

“Don’t toss me aside. I’ll reform myself. I’m not going to drink for a while.”

This one cracks me up! "I'm not going to drink for a while," in this case may have already expired.

he's human after all. everybody can judge his act but a lot of people lose control when they are drunk. maybe they don't punch izakaya staff nor cops. but how many people had never do some stupid acting when he's drunk? if he's free it's maybe because he's actor. but if this story will appear in newpaper or TV he's for the same reason. but it's right that actions was really stupid because i lost his wallet by himself so don't need to agress other people for your own mistake. but maybe that don't work and waste his career for a stupid drunker act. is a better lesson than prison.

Maybe they should handcuff him and Mel Gibson together for a month. This kind of crap doesn't seem to have any effect on celebrities' careers in this country. They can get away with almost anything.

I'd bet this guy is still tied to Mama's apron strings and has been getting away with throwing tantrums.

  • superesonator at 09:39 PM JST - 20th November

Nah, we'd better toss you aside. There are thousands of more intelligent people who would love to be actors.
