Actress Sakai's husband released on bail

TOKYO —

Yuichi Takaso, husband of actress Noriko Sakai who has been indicted for stimulant possession and use, was released on bail Wednesday from a police station in Tokyo’s Shibuya Ward after receiving similar charges. Sakai, a 38-year-old former pop idol, is also expected to leave the Tokyo Wangan Police Station sometime Thursday as the Tokyo District Court has accepted her request to be released on bail following her indictment for amphetamine possession and use.

Takaso, 41, was freed as he paid the 5 million yen bail via his lawyer Wednesday. Sakai paid 2.5 million yen of her 5 million yen bail Tuesday and is expected to pay the rest soon. The first hearing of Sakai’s trial is scheduled for Oct 26 and that for Takaso, for Oct 21, both at the Tokyo District Court.

supposedly, sakai paid 2.5 million yen (half of what she was supposed to pay) intentionally to avoid being released on the 16th.

So which will happen first, Sakai's appearance before the court (I wonder what she will wear?) or her appearance before a divorce attorney.

Then again, with time on her hands (being persona-non-grata among Japan's hypocritical entertainment industry) she might check herself into rehab and get straightened out (do they have rehab in Japan).

Of course, they should not have let her go without some form of electronic monitoring. Moreover, she will want to get her house in order before she goes down for 5 to 10.

Finally, I wonder how her child will adjust to life behind bars.

Did Sakai pay 7.5 million yen, one for her husband and half for herself? But at least she will pay the rest and be free soon.
