SAPPORO —
Police arrested another former employee of Nippon Express Co on Saturday on suspicion of stealing around 115 million yen from a company vehicle in the city of Tomakomai in Hokkaido in April, police said. Police arrested Ryosuke Sugano, 24, a former contract employee, at New Chitose Airport in Sapporo, the police said.
The latest arrest follows that of Sugano’s alleged accomplice, Keisuke Asada, a 27-year-old former contract employee at the company, on Friday. The two men are suspected of stealing the money collected from more than 20 customers, including supermarkets and banks, from the vehicle on April 1 by using a key to gain access to the vehicle when it was left unattended. They allegedly stole the money while two Nippon Express employees were away from the vehicle to collect money from a bank in Tomakomai.

Direct deposits are fine but when you have a huge bundle of cash in your store, somebody has to take it to the bank.
However, leaving a 'vehicle' in the parking lot (more likely in the street blocking traffic) with over 100,000,000 yen in it seems to be on the verge of incompetence. I suspect Nippon Express will now have three men to a vehicle. One to watch the vehicle while the other two go get the money. Or four. One to watch the man in the vehicle.

New Chitose Airport is in Chitose, not Sapporo. (The name's the tipoff.)
