Pick an American or European actress of a like kind & imagine she was arrested for possession in her own country, maybe the media would mention it once or twice, maybe she would go to court (in some European counties possibly not), but all this for being a user? This is madness.

What the police should do is line up all the press people & blood test the lot, & then we would see a change in style to the reports on Sakai-san.

I cannot believe that she is STILL in jail! Why don't they try to catch real criminals! Her poor son. I hope he is doing okay.

I say so what? So what if she did some ICE or whatever it was. Who cares. Mdeia sensationalism.

This is typical Japanese beat a horse to death behavior.

I feel sorry for Sakai. They are hanging her out to dry like the cowards they are, with some kind of cop revenge against a crime syndicate family. She has been honest and owned-up to everything se did, yet there are still idiots on here who are also sticking the boot in. Her sad little husband was caught with a dealers-load of the stuff in the street and we have not read or heard a jot about him since his initial arrest. The cops here are pathetic, letting stalkers roam around attacking ex-girlfriends and Kyodo News are jumping on the kick-Sakai bandwagon with their sarcy little ending paragraph about Sakai's commericals work as a mother.

Is Sakai still in a cell ? Surely not ? Meanwhile Oshio was found with a dead girl in his apartment with drugs in his and her system and they let him out on bail !

I'm in disbelief you can be treated that way in Japan just for amphetamines' use... Are really amphetamines illegal in Japan? They are present in many prescription drugs so I'm amazed you can be jailed for them. Obviously Japan has so few true criminals so that police can "take care" of "dangerous scum" such as Noriko Sakai...

    Japanese cops are bullies.

Has anyone one else noticed that in the media she is no longer 酒井容疑者 (Sakai yougisha = suspect) but 酒井被告 (Sakai hikoku = defendant) while her husband is still just yougisha. Something stinks!

Sensationalist media is built around schadenfreude. The jcops though are in another league of corruption and double standards.

And the prosecutors who take over the further investigations on her records of drug use since her arrest. They should also be held responsible for tipping off to the media to sensationalize the local news of crime.

It appears that japanese cops would rather choose the safer path of dealing with "celebrity criminals" instead of dangerous ones with real guns. Their may be alleged connection to yakuza, but it would be interesting if any future arrests would actually tie into this as if it led to them to the true dangerous criminals.

And how does the media get their hands on every minute informations!? The "law enforcement" system needs to be fix. It's just not right how they are treating her!

  • animallover at 02:09 AM JST - 13th September

Much ado about nothing. Sakai did not harm anybody she did harm herself. They are so many criminals on the loose: thieves, children kidnappers, drug dealers, killers... who should get much attention and get arrested.
