ofcourse Japan, no other pro-whaling nation is so provocative.

Watson really looks look a 'militant' !

Yes because Japan could bribe Germany and Costa Rica... You senile old fool!

Of course he does. Bless his little rock-filled head.
When is this idiot going to understand, just because you don't like something, that doesn't make it "illegal".
-6
NetNinja
You don't have to suspect. We know. It's actually Paul's fault. Germany and Japan were in bed together during WWII. Did he think for a minute something has changed?

Japan must like boosting this guys donation drives so they can continue to have their fun together way down south each year!

I love that everything's about him; in order to stop the anti-whaling attacks, you only need to destroy Paul Watson. I'd like to see him harpooned by an amateur Japanese whaler and then all of Greenpeace bow down like that scene from Conan the Barbarian.

Anybody can say anything. Do you have any proof that it is Japan? If yes, show it. If not, your statement is simply worthless.
1

So, does PW think he is going to help his situation in the German courts by suggesting that the German judiciary and Government are Japan's lackeys ???
-5

Watson was arrested in Germany because he dug his own grave. He should've realized himself is not really a free man and a criminal in the world.
-2
marsnairb
sad sad man. so anything that goes wrong in his life is Japan's fault. did he ever have a real job? because I think it would be great to travel the seas with no care about earning money or creating a product.. and why would Japan waste money on some small minded person. they can use the money to buy better research vessels.

That Paul Watson, he's a smart man. He might be on to something...

More make-believe by cult group.
Media people are poor at their jobs for reporting whatever lies he says.
Japanese case was brought two months later, in December: http://www.icrwhale.org/pdf/111209ReleaseENG.pdf

Good! I hope he is sent to Japan and rots in jail.

While I support the SS and their efforts, I think making such a bold claim is not the best thing to do for your credibility.

You mean "some in the Japanese government" are trying to stop your illegal activities in the Southern Ocean. NOT "Japan" as a whole.
Most of "Japan" can care less about what the mad Canadian at sea is doing these days.

Yes, exactly! Suspiciously close to the reissue of the arrest warrant.
Yes, it's a leap, but it could well be related. Personally, I don't think so. However, it's difficult to explain why Costa Rica reissued the arrest warrant so many years after the event.

hurling stink bombs. VERY grown-up.

arrestpaul
I wonder why the various media outlets keep cutting and pasting this eco-terrorist group's propaganda. Only this eco-terrorist group "claims" that they were falsely accused. Doesn't the Costa Rican crew members deserve their day in court?
If this eco-terrorist group ACTUALLY had any legal authority to attack, disable, and detain a Costa Rican vessel, why did they flee the area when the TRUE authorities show up?
2
nandakandamanda
'Stink bombs' in the article is euphemistic.
Lobbing glass bottles of Butyric Acid, (a concentrated form of the harmful and stinky acid that is formed in rotten butter), is closer to the reality.
Incidentally his methods may be wrong, but this silly gourmet craze for sharkfin soup is driving the maiming and slaughter of the world's shark populations.

And trying to jam propellers on the Japanese fleet was not illegal? This guy deserves to rot in Jail.

I don't know what Sea Shepherd's organizational structure is like, but if he runs it like a good business (meaning, if he doesn't run it with him as the only person making decisions at the group) then even if he is incarcerated, it should be no problem for the group. They can continue to plan, organize and execute their operations with other members making decisions. If the group has not been set up like this, then this could well be the beginning of the end for Sea Shepherd.

When is hunting whales in an established whale sanctuary legal? The Japanese walk all over the Australians on this issue. The Japanese are the eco-terrorists, killing whales. Sea Shepherd does not kill or hurt anyone. They are not terrorists, they are concerned citizens of the world that are willing to give up their own lives to protect the oceans. Lethal scientific whaling is nothing more than a disguise for commercial whaling. You know it, I know it, its completely dishonourable. Bad Japan!

ihope2eatwhales
2020hindsights,
Watson claimed it was "exactly the same time", not "close". You know that there is two months difference between October and December.
This criminal group has legal troubles throughout the whole year in many countries. It is definitely attention seeking.
He also claimed he faces death sentence in Costa Rica, although Costa Rica does not even have death penalty.
Yes.
My idea is for media to ask the Costa Ricans about it directly, rather than ask the ecoterrorist mastermind who is seeking funds in Australia so as to commit further crimes.
2
tideofiron
That which is asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.
1
ihope2eatwhales
Andre Hut,
The "whale sanctuary" is defined under the International Convention for the Regulation of Whaling. "Whale sanctuary" does not mean that no whales can be taken there. You can find out if you read the convention.
Japan's actitivities are 100% legal, it is the ecoterrorist group that acts illegally.
6
Jonathan Hunt
Great, so it's happened again: the comments section has turned into an argument about whaling. Great.

Not linked to the Japanese? The seas around Japan have been MASSIVELY overfished mostly by the Japanese themselves, they now tread into the Atlantic and every other ocean to keep up their insatiable, unsustainable demand for whalemeat and Tuna amongst other things. Whilst the whole world gives up on whales and cuts back on tuna, Japan just consumes more. I wouldnt be at all surprised if this was due to the Japanese, we have seen video footage where politicians back track and flat faced lie about the fishing practises they have. Ironically the Australians are quite partial to looking after their fish stocks and protecting the whales which is something the British did for many years, it is under the EU Common Fisheries (German arguably) project that the waters are massively overfished today.
3
2020hindsights
Actually, they did. The Costa Rican Prosecutor threw the case out.

Watson has new story now. He says that "shark fin mafia of Costa Rica" has a price for his head, that is why.
Media looks more stupid for reporting his lies of Japan.
He blames anybody excluding Paul Watson. Lack of remorse for crimes he has committed is good reason for maximum punishment.
-1
codomo
um, curious why he hates japan so much? something anti-japanese capital is behind him?
-3

No, the case never went to court. I suspect some "outside influence" made a cash contribution to make sure the case was dropped before it could get to trial.

Where are the statements by Costa Rican and Germany authorities? Are the eco-terrorist SS the only ones who are issuing press statements? Isn't there supposed to be at least 2 sides to every story?
0
2020hindsights
Did you even read the article?
0
2020hindsights
As I said.
It was thrown out after video evidence was produced.
Quite the opposite, I expect outside influence from the fishing lobby to re-instate the charges with a different prosecutor. Smells fishy.
2
imap2223
Now on this one, huh? Okay. Cool.
It wasn't trash talk, see the tape. Fact is he would be killed by the Costa Rican mafia if he were to go to jail there. It wouldn't get to court. But of course, he must be mindful and question is such a thing is possible.
But let's look at his statement in its entirety not in the bits and pieces that you have copied and pasted together, PAUL.
Here is what it says.
**Although I have no reason to believe that the Costa Rican legal system would not give me a fair trial, my concern is not for the judicial system, but for the reality that the shark fin mafia of Costa Rica has a price on my head and a Costa Rican prison would provide an excellent opportunity for someone to exercise this lethal contract against me,” he said. **
His concern is for his safety and for good reason. He didn't take pop shots at the Costa Rican judiciary system at all like you just said. He just said how peculiar the timing was. And nobody can disagree with that. Ten years later a case that had been completely dropped comes up at the same time the J-gov officials file charges in Seattle. And, yes up to this point they have lost the injunction.
No, the Costa Rican illegal poachers have nothing to say, because they were in Guatemalan waters, illegally without a permit. Does a burglar have a case? NOPE. That what they were and why you will never hear anything from them.
2
imap2223
They fled the area ARRESTPAUL, because gun boats were coming in their direction. The gun boats had been radioed to by the illegal poachers under the false claim that they were being attacked. Trust me, when you gun boats are sent out in Central America, it is never a good thing.
But here is something fun for all those that believe the illegal poachers. The Sea Sheppard was constantly sending videos to CANADA of what was going on. The videos were the same ones that the Costa Rican offiicals saw later on, which prompted them to DROP THE CASE. If their actions were so dangerous, charges would have stuck but were actually dropped by the COSTA RICANS. And the truth shall set you free.
2
marcelito
Haha..good one paulie..:)..the fishing lobbyists suspecting " outside influence " making cash contribution in order to influence outcome of law proceedings in a Central American country...if that were the case it would sound like the SS took a leaf out of the fishing companies book then...wouldn,t that be ironic :)

I'm amazed at the amount of vitriolic comments on this. You'd think he was Bin Laden or Saddam going by the 'harpoon him' and 'let him rot in jail' comments.
-4
ihope2eatwhales
"imap2223",
Why should Sea Shepherd flee from official boats if they are a "navy" with "authority" to do anything?
They would only flee if they themselves know that they are actually just ecoterrorists.
It is not a good thing to illegally attack other vessels anywhere, when you have no more than make-believe authority.
-7
ihope2eatwhales
Thunderbird2,
It shows is that Watson is much reviled everywhere.
-4
ihope2eatwhales
"imap2223",
As already proven, it was not the same time. That is a Watson lie #1763.
J-gov officials did file charges in Seattle in December. Not October. It is two months after. Not before. After. Maybe it is a better lie to say Costa Rica persuaded Japan to take action against ecoterrorists, than the reverse.
It's easy. Sea Shepherd commits crimes in many places, and gets prosecuted in many places. I think Sea Shepherd lovers would believe we are aliens if Paul Watson told them so.

vinnyfav
Unfortunately for Paul, there's just one big hole in this conspiracy theory of his. Japanese officals can be bribed, but asking them for money is like trying to squeeze blood out of a stone.
Everytime the SS does something to Japanese boats, the J-government bends over backwards to let them off scot-free. They don't even try to arrest them despite the ridiculously dangerous stunts the SS try to pull in the middle of the ocean. And here he is, trying to claim that the J-government is pulling strings to get him in jail.
If they wanted him in jail, they'd have arrested and charged him years ago without needing to go through another country.

@ihope2eatwhales
Oh no. Quite the contrary. He gets money from people all over the world. I just sent a good hefty donation myself and will continue to do so. The guy is a hero to lots of educated people like myself who think in terms of right and wrong and not of only MONEY. He is only reviled by people in your camp. The money side. Or people who don't know enough about the situation but make up their minds without really seeking out information and just buy what you guys are selling.
I will give you that it was two months later. But, so what? One month, two months. It is all around the same time anyway. I think the problem was just his wording. I am sure he was trying to see "this was going on all around the same time". But I shouldn't speak for him, because than I would be just speculating.
As for them fleeing the Costa Ricans, please see what I posted to arrestpaul. And you also. I already explained that and don't feel the need to do so again. It is all there in black and white.
-1
imap2223
@vinnyfav > asking them for money is like trying to squeeze blood out of a stone.
Reality is they are quite infamous for paying smaller countries for votes in the IWC. Heck, all countries are when they have something to lose. Well, yes they can arrest him, but the problem is, you gotta catch him first. They have never had that chance.
Has he ever been in Japan since he started hounding the fleets? No. Therefore they have to go through a third party. And yes, they did arrest Pete Bethune and held him for quite a while. It was very unpopular with people outside of Japan.
1
imap2223
@ihope2eatwhales. The below is just more nasty speculation and innuendo flinging on your part. > I think Sea Shepherd lovers would believe we are aliens if Paul Watson told them so.
Let's talk facts. Fact one. Correct me if I am wrong. You and others who are so against him, would love to see him get thrown in a Costa Rican prison so the mafia could get to him, wouldn't you? You speak of fairness and giving the POACHERS their day in court, knowing that they are on the side of the mafia and would be protected, but he wouldn't. I think your side would really like it if he "just slipped and fell" in a Costa Rican mafia invested jail system, right?
But remember this. The more actions whalers take, the more of a hero he becomes. The more attention you give him, the more powerful he becomes. Just like what was said about the actions of the Sea Sheppard with the Japanese. Now, more Japanese are against him than before. Right? Well, the reverse works that way as well, and as we all know, Japan is just an island nation amongst many.
Let me educate you here, If he dies, he becomes a legend and more people will take up the fight against the shark-finning . I really can't believe that any of you can side with those thugs at all. And more people will take up the fight on whaling. Hey, look at me, in just one day you influenced me and a few others to take a pot and start sending money. More people you make angry, the more people join the fight. So, it is in your best interest to make sure he doesn't get shipped back to Costa Rica and something happens to him. Stop giving him attention as well. When you do you are just working for me and the people who appreciate the things that he does.
-1
imap2223
@andre Thanks for the below comment. Has anyone on the other side ever thought of that?? > Japan is in violation of an Austrailian Federal Court order when it comes to whaling in the Austrailian Whale Sanctuary. Doesn't sound legal to me... Just saying
Yeah, let me go a step further and paste this little tidbit.
**Australia's sovereignty in Antarctica is the jurisdictional basis for Australia declaring under its own domestic laws a whale sanctuary within its exclusive economic zone of 200 nautical miles under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, UNCLOS.
Judge Alsop declared in his ruling that "the waters within 200 nautical miles from the Australian Antarctic Territory land mass are within the Australian Whale Sanctuary." ** So, basically they are hunting within the 200 mile EEZ of Australia and thumbing their noses at other judges and laws of foreign counties. .
But the whalers refute this! Convenient, wouldn't you say and ignore the laws passed by A FEDERAL JUDGE, all the while complaining that Captain Paul Watson and his crew do the same thing. The contradiction and hypocrisy stinks.
-3
arrestpaul
You mean the article that was written by the eco-terrorist SS public disinformation group? The article where they state Watson's opinion and Watson's opinion of what the other side probably would have said if anyone had bothered to ask the other side?
-2
arrestpaul
Hahahaha. Trust you or trust what Watson told you? How do you know the claim was false? Because Watson told you that is was false?
According to Watson - "If you do not know an answer, a fact, or a statistic, then simply make it up on the spot and deliver the information confidently and without hesitation".
It sounds to me like Watson is, once again, simply making up another answer to cause angina in the hearts of his fanatical followers.
-2
imap2223
More manipulation by you. Fact is he was talking about how much disdain he has for the mainstream media making things up to sell newspapers, knowing full well that it would be proven a lie in page three or four a few days later, of which the media is guilty of. . Watson was explicit about what he perceived to be the lack of truthfulness in mass media.
OH AND YOU CONVENIENTLY CUTT OFF MY SENTENCE WHICH PROVES MANIPULATION ON YOUR PART AS WELL.
> According to Watson - "If you do not know an answer, a fact, or a statistic, then simply make it up on the spot and deliver the information confidently and without hesitation".
He was talking about what the media and people who abuse it for their own purposes do. As Ronald Reagan did.
Manipulations by you are redundant and constant. WOW.

imap2223 and arrestpaul. You are just going around in circles and being impolite to each other. Take a break please.

arrestpaul -trust what Watson said..? ..Never.. I would much rather trust what you say because you never make false claims, twist facts, selectively quote or misquote. What a relief we have truly "independent" posters out in the cyberspace to correct all the evil SS propaganda out there.

Robert Roo
Sea Shepard didn't try to kill anyone so far they use stink bombs and blocking movements hardly life threatening. If they threatened anyone it would hardly be enough to warrant extradition measures - it is all political nonsense. Japanese government ships are whaling so its easy to imagine the japanese government supporting his jail in retaliation for blocking them in the oceans. The whole world has made a moratorium but they still want to kill with the lie it's for science. Sad for the normal Japanese peoples. Sad for greenpeace to have to resort to Militant ways to prove a point and now jail for stopping finning while the criminals are still free to maime and kill. Anyone who disagrees please watch a shark finning movie from the net.and gather information about why there is a moratorium on killing whales..... To save them ofcourse...

wtfjapan
he is a very smart man, & the whalers are falling straight into the trap, publicity like this is priceless, im sure Mr watson would be happy to spend time in jail if it furthers the cause. watch for the increase in volunteers, donations & boats. whaling will be come so expensive with all the security needed that it just wont be viable. just what Mr Watson is aiming for. now tell me who the dummies are? LOL

What an amazing idiot and blatant racist this Watson is. COSTA RICA IS A VERY ANTI-WHALING NATION and is againt Japan's Research Whaling Program. They are after Watson because HE USES VIOLENCE. The Japanese sued SS in seattle to STOP SS VIOL:ENCE.
