Armed bandits rob Nagoya couple in apartment

NAGOYA —

Three men armed with knives robbed and assaulted a Brazilian man and his wife when they forced their way into the couple’s apartment in Nagoya on Sunday morning. Police said the man, 37, and his wife, 44, were tied up, and the thieves got away with 150,000 yen. The man was cut in the face.

According to police, the assailants rang the doorbell at around 9 a.m. When the Brazilian opened the door, they forced their way in. The men were described as around 160 c.m. tall, dressed in black and wearing balaclavas, and spoke in what sounded like Portuguese. The man and his wife were tied up with plastic string. The thieves stole cash, cash cards and his driving license.

After the men left, the couple were able to cut the plastic and free themselves, and ran to a nearby police box in Naka Ward.

Yes, Brazilians robbing Brazilians. Sounds like an inside job too me. Probably a family friends. Christmas shopping is right around the corner. In North & South America it's a popular season bank, ATM, kidnapping, home invasion, Salvation Army fake Santas robberies. It brings out the best in people.

"and spoke in what sounded like Portuguese" You'd think that Brazilians might be a bit more certain if the thieves were speaking in their mother tongue. Or maybe it's just sloppy translation from the Japanese.

Too bad for this Brazilian family! Luckily the idiots that robbed them did not hurt or kill them! This would be more typical back in Brazil.

They are 'Bandits,' for sure. I'm wondering if this was caused by drugs connection. How did they know that cash was at home with Brazilians? I smell something shifty about that, or is a 'tip of the iceberg.' 'We will wait and see said the blind.'

this is really sad. I have friends from tens of different countries here in Japan, and Brazilians here are some of the funniest, nice and warm people around. But there are rotten apples in the bucket, and they say they are really ashamed of news like this.
