28-year-old man placed on wanted list for murder, abduction

CHIBA —

Police placed a 28-year-old man on the wanted list Monday on suspicion of murdering a woman in the city of Chiba and abducting her daughter. Hiroyuki Nakada is believed to have been involved in the murder of Aiko Toyoda, 61, who was found stabbed to death on Saturday on the staircase of an apartment building in Chiba and in the disappearance of her daughter Tomomi, 22, according to police.

Tomomi was last seen on Saturday with a man who was forcing her into a car in the apartment’s parking lot, and the car was last seen in Tatebayashi, Gunma Prefecture, police said.

Nakada, believed to be her former boyfriend, is suspected of stalking her.

Earlier this month, Tomomi was taken around by Nakada for a week and called the police from a convenience store in Toyota, Aichi Prefecture on July 10, and was taken into protective custody.

Since returning to Chiba, she had consulted a local police station twice, saying she was being followed by the man, and the police had begun investigations on suspicion he was violating the stalker regulation law.

Tomomi, who lived with her mother at the apartment, is 152 centimeters tall and weighs 40 kilograms. She was wearing a T-shirt and pants when she disappeared, police said.

Responding to media criticism that they did not properly protect the woman from her ex-boyfriend, a police spokesman said, “We did everything we could within the law.”

the girl is partly to be blamed, that's what she got for trusting a man whom she got acquainted through dating site ( low IQd identity)

She should have called and paid the Yakuza. They would have done the job. A group of friends decided to intervene in one of our friends relationships once it became clear that she was being abused.

Only problem is, I suspect the yaks would protect the bad guys, murderers and abusers if they paid them more. Many people reckon a big money spinner for the Yakuza is protecting fugitives.

Sorry BeaverCleaver. You're on your own. JT has every right to edit/censor/bar opinions on their website. Just because they asked for your opinion doesn't mean they have to display it.

Re: the article, it's sad when the victim apparently does the things necessary to get protection, but the laws prevent adequate protection from being provided.

The powers given to police in cases like these are very limited and obviously useless. For the cops to go to his house and give him a verbal warning would only enrage the twisted goon even more. With the amount of stalking coupled with the high rate of so many ending in murders the cops have to be given powers to lock these loons up right from the first 'proven' instance of stalking and/or abuse. It's the only way they will deter them.

What's missing (again) from this poorly translated article is that the police urged Tomomi to file charges against her ex but refused to do so.

  • TokyoHustla at 04:12 AM JST - 21st July

No slam dunk DNA proof is cited here, and thus the charges must be dismissed as baseless.

Then the law is flawed. It never should have gotten to this point.

I've reported a stalker before, even having the nut case call and text threatening messages over a dozen times during the police interview. The idiot cop sat there laughing and didn't seem to take things very seriously.

The law to protect people from stalking here is empty and pointless until it is too late. Likewise the J-cops are amongst the most useless in all the developed world. They send a dozen people to deal with the major ordeal of a minor pedestian/bicycle collision, but cannot be bothered to properly pursue a stalker or any other real threat.

J Cops can stand behind excuses, but I firmly believe that it is combination of incompetence, laziness and an inability to honestly care for the public that allow these things to continuously happen.

The government can equally stand behind poorly thought through laws, but it is time that stalking laws were empowered with the ability to thwart potential threats from obviously sick and messed up people who cannot take no or get lost for an answer.

I fear this poor young girl is somewhere dead. Most likely with the sicko who took her.

I hope you're wrong TK and I hope that your stalker is in jail somewhere. But I'm probably wrong on both points. I suppose they will catch this guy right after they find the jerk who murdered Miss Hawker.

The law has to be changed and the cops should go on testosterone therapy.

What tkoind2 fail to realize is that police asked the victim to FILE CHARGES when "Earlier this month, Tomomi was taken around by Nakada for a week and called the police from a convenience store in Toyota, Aichi Prefecture on July 10, and was taken into protective custody." but she refused to do so.

Ummmmm... and WHY, exactly, did the supposed stalker HAVE your phone #/info in the first place?
