do you think the police force in Japan is such an idiot? look, they found the wallet but they decided not to let it go in the open. Sent investigators to monitor him. When they have enough evidence they charge him. Much like the same with the foreigner caught in Odaiba few years back, they know he was a drug dealer but let him pass thru Narita for a while then arrested him when they were able to establish his contacts.

miki, he is not a drug dealer. He smoked some puff. Shame the Japanese police cannot act so enthusiastically with the yakuza here who murder people, extort money and control the sale of class A drugs.

The 'crime' is sooooo trivial, and the loss to the sport is much larger. There was a great rivalry starting to brew with big ol' Baruto. Sumo will be less entertaining as a result.

Hopefully now Japan's legal system throw the book at him; a maximum sentence before booting him out of the country as a way to show all foreigner dope fiends that if you do the crime, you will do the time.

From most of the stories here on JT, the person who did the knifing is always arrested, as the cops are suppose to do, just as those who use drugs, get arrested. Are you suggesting that the Police do more to preventing knife attacks(Mostly used in domestic violence), instead of pursuing other crimes like drug use(Just as much a Crime). Maybe the should a machine like the one in Minority Report, so they can predict when someone is going to stab someone else or perhaps put Camera's in everyone house so they can tell when someone is going stab someone.

A crime is a crime, Wakanoho knowingly committed a crime, so he should receive whatever pushiment is suitable for crime. If you can get banned from the Olympics and get your medal striped from you (See Ross Rebagliati), you should be able to dismiss someone from JSA for the same reason.

A crime is a crime A very ignorant statement. Smoking dope is a victim-less crime. This is the reason why i can have hard time labeling it as one. Just because it's a law, doesn't mean the law is wrong.

There was an interestin op ed piece on mainichi. They lay at least part of the blame on the adults who were supposedly mentoring this guy. This guy came from Russia at how old? 16, 17, 18? who knows what his background was there. Sure they don't do much in russia for toking a few. I think if it was splained properly to this kid what would happen if he did the gange, he mighta made a different choice. but you take a kid from a messed up country like russia, make him a star here, and expect him to NOT be around people smoking weed and stuff? I kinda of agree . I'm not saying he shouldnt get punished, but maybe his handlers just dropped the ball just a little bit here.
