Why wasn't the headline: "Japanese gangster nabbed for smuggling marijuana" and then, in the article, mention that this Japanese gangster (with name and age attached) used a Thai flight attendant to smuggle the marijuana into Japan?
It is easier to blame all those "evil foreigners" Thais, Colombians etc...than to try to blame the yakuza scum bags who go on sex trips to these countries, "make friends" with the locals and they entice them with talk of making a lot of easy money. This is a very old kind of story happening all around the world every single day. (I think it may not happen in places like Saudi where they will just chop off your head.)
I know one drug that kills, breaks up family's,is in the high risk category when it come to aids, and is very addictive, it is alcohol!! Marijuana doesn't even come close to the amount of damage and deaths alcohol causes.
Many countries give Marijuana a slap on the hand or a small fine if carrying more than a joint because it is mild drug and none addictive for one, alcohol is!I know, been there done it got of the stuff I was at rock bottom,
But sometimes Japan is a little behind, Holland has a mature and responsible way at looking at the drug problem it has and probably one of the best in the world, but I do not advocated drug use and breaking any counties laws.
Just happy to be sober.
Wow! The only thing that would have made this story even more interesting would have been if the flight attendant had wore a "Bong hits 4 Jesus" t-shirt during the time of the arrest.
Refreshing, finally a drug smuggler that actually admits to the misdeed, instead of the pathetic "I didn't know what I was carrying not my fault waaaa" excuse. Just for this the flight attendant should not be punished as harshly as those who deny, though this is a relative notion (instead of let's say 20 years, 15 years of hard labor for example).
Small quanity, small value, little punishment should be ok but then he is a foreign national...!

what a loser. throwing it all away for a few dime bags.
I would call 1 lb and 5.86 oz more than "a few dime bags." From somewhere many, many years ago I recalled that an oz. was about 28 grams. How I would remember such a thing, I'll never know (tell).
Legalize Today! But UNTIL that happens, respect the laws of the country you live in and are travelling to! Keep the foreign life going with as much integrity as possible for us all out here in the strangelands of our neighbors.
