So they've been suspended for 30 days? Is that it?

It is easier for a small boat to manouver and avoid being hit by a larger vessel than it is the otherway round. It is always important to keep your eyes open while at sea. Sad there was loss of life.

It’s funny that if it were a USN ship involved all would be up in arms! Where is everyone on this one?

Monkey-You took the words right out of my mouth. Will there be big memorial ceremonies splashed all over Japanese media like with the US submarine mishap? Or will this go quietly in the annals of history (except of course for the poor family members)?

Also, a 20 day suspension? Seriously? What does it take to get fired in this country? The captain of the US sub was relieved of command. Didn't an admiral also lose his job over the incident, too?

To be honest, if the crew co-ordination and training was as bad as they say then the blame ultimately lies much, much higher up the chain of command.

luckily it wasn't a nuclear vessel and a rock. Condolences to the families.

What measures did the fishers take to avoid the collision? Why were their actions never questioned?
