Another wild police chase. I wish police the world over would stop this insane practice of wild chases. The risk of injury to civilian is too great. No one can tell me in this age that they can't effectively track down fugitives and criminals without undue risk to civilians.
Mate, this guy is a murderer. Of course the cops had to chase him down. If they did not and he went and murdered more people, you would be calling for the cops heads just like me.
I saw this chase in person last night as it passed through Togane city. There were 9 police cars in pursuit, with several more police cars passing by over the next several minutes. Not long afterwards, a firetruck escorted by yet more police cars passed by. I'm glad they managed to catch their suspect.
rjd_jr, sounds like you've been watching a little bit too much CSI. Even in this "age," many things are still difficult. You'd be surprised how easy it is for some people to hide from the authorities.
I'm a police officer. Some agencies DO have no-pursuit policies because of the danger to the public, but they don't like to advertise that fact because then people would take advantage of the fact. ALL police agencies have systems in place to determine when a chase is not worth the danger to the public (and to the chasing officer for that matter). Some are more conservative than others. One of the factors to consider in whether to cut off a chase is whether the driver can be identified. If you know who the driver is, in most cases the chase would be cut off. But with how many cars involved in chases turn out to be stolen, you don't just run the tag and go arrest the owner. And in the case of a violent felon (like a murderer), you have to weigh the danger to the public from chasing the guy, to the danger to the public if you let him go.

Funny you can watch police chases all day long in the states. No matter how bad the cops are the news chopper is right on their tail.

I think the word would be carrying, not abandoning, in your title.

rjd jr,
There will be a time when police will be able to track such people through their car's GPS system, but just not yet.
