Convenience store employee stabbed in botched Christmas eve robbery
A convenience store employee was stabbed in a botched robbery attempt in Kawagoe, Saitama Prefecture, on Monday night.
According to police, the would-be robber entered a Lawson convenience store at around 8:20 p.m. brandishing a knife, Fuji TV reported. He then demanded cash and threatened an 18-year-old worker with the knife. However, when the Lawson employee refused and attempted to grab his arm, the man stabbed him in the abdomen and fled the store empty-handed, police said.
The employee was taken to hospital where doctors said Tuesday that his wounds were not life-threatening. His assailant was described as being around 170cm in height, wearing a black down jacket, black pants and a white surgical mask.
