Death penalty sought again for Akita woman over slaying of 2 kids

Prosecutors on Thursday again demanded the death penalty for a 35-year-old woman for murdering her 9-year-old daughter and a 7-year-old neighbor boy in Akita Prefecture in 2006. In the first appeal hearing in the high-profile murder case at the Sendai High Court’s Akita branch, the prosecutors claimed that the life sentence handed down by the Akita District Court on Suzuka Hatakeyama in March is ‘‘exceedingly light and is based on factual errors.’‘
According to the ruling in March, Hatakeyama murdered her daughter Ayaka by dropping her into a river from a bridge in the Akita town of Fujisato on April 9, 2006, and strangled the boy Goken Yoneyama at her house on May 17 that year. The question of whether the killing of Ayaka was intentional has been the focus of the trial, with Hatakeyama having admitted to murdering the boy.

Giving her a death sentence is easy way out. She should get life with no parole or early freedom. Let her suffer all her life. She should be behind the closed doors for the rest of her natural life.Perhaps she will be hanged after 10 to 15 years, and than she will be put to rest for good. I don't think this woman is capable of remorse. Sitting behind closed doors will just add to the taxpayers debt. If there ever was a candidate for the death penalty, due to the nature of her crime, this woman is it.

persectuor have really time to waste. maybe after 10 years of appeal she will be death sentenced and until she will be hanged maybe 10 or 15 other years will happened. at the end she will be executed maybe after 20 or 25 years in jail. It's just non-sense. But the reality is that women in japan except 1 case are never sentenced to death even the crime is horrible. when a man kill someone coldly he have maybe 50/50% chance to be sentenced to death. When a women kill her husband, her child or do another horrible type of murder she is sentence to 10 years maybe 15 with luck and will be realesed after 5 or 8 years.
