Previous justice ministers also believed him innocent. That's why they haven't executed him yet. Of course we'll get the usual suspects writing in in total ignorance of the system insisting the execution of people who are probably innocent is a good thing. The opinion that innocent people should not be strung up just makes me a crazed liberal with no concept of evil.
Hatoyama is a callous supporter of state-sponsored murder, and a man who knows very well that this system allows the state to kill the innocent along with the guilty. People with his background don't tend to end up in this situation though, so he doesn't care.

Torture. Disposed of evidence. Fabricated evidence. Dissenting judges. Denial of retrail, despite the exposure of the aforementioned.... now where were those "checks and balances"?

The case gets international exposure. Japan gets embarrassed. Something will finally get done.

Nothing will get done. People wrongly accused of crimes and sentenced to prison and death are a dime a dozen. That's just the way it is.
