hmm 101 something orwellian going on here. Thats a long time on between being convicted and sentenced to death. If theres only 101 people on death row, it shouldnt take that long to get through them should it? Is there some sort of mandatory time they have to wait after sentencing before its carried out?

I dont know why people complain about the way Japan deals with their death row inmates, all 100 of them. If you ask me keeping them in jail for anywhere from 1-80 years, and being able to surprise and execution on them at any moment is FAR better justice than we deal up in the states. These people are murders, we cant physically torture them. This is a great payback system if you ask me. (assuming they are guilty in the first place)

of course they're all guilty, the cops got a confession out of them.

There is no limit for how long a death row inmate have to sit before execution. Several death row people die from natural causes in Japan.
@inakarob: Maybe you should just start a lynch mob group. Worked well in them old days in america.

inakarob, the "if" bit is the problem with coerced confessions...

Really not fair that he did that. All the other inmates are now jealous, and the order of executions has been changed.

Rip prisoner. He's lucky he didn't die of frostbite like many others.

Yeah, he'd have been better off with a rope necktie instead. Preferably one given to him 5 years ago.

I don't know why people complain about the way Japan deals with their death row inmates; aren't we all sentenced to death from the moment of conception? Don't we all have to live in isolation with little but the unbearable knowledge of our impending doom for company?
