Dentist held for indecent behavior with junior high school girl in Fukuoka hotel

A 35-year-old dentist was arrested under laws against child prostitution on Monday, accused of paying a third-year junior high school girl 15,000 yen to engage in indecent behavior in a Fukuoka City hotel in late April.

Police said Takashi Oda, a resident of Okayama Prefecture, became acquainted with the girl via a cell phone site after he responded to a message posted by the girl, 14 years old at the time, which asked if someone could help her out with 30,000 yen. The pair exchanged mails and phone calls and agreed to meet at 4 p.m. on April 29, when he is accused of taking the girl to the hotel and engaging in indecent behavior.

Oda has denied knowing that the girl was under 18 years old and denied any money exchanged hands.

SHE posted a message asking for help with money, and HE got busted?

Did she go to the hotel unwillingly?

How did the cops find out?

Why did it take them so long to find out?

Simple: If she is under age then she is not responsible for her actions. He should have known better.

Glad these crazy ones are getting caught. So he promised 30,000 and gave her only 15000 and she got him into trouble? Why did the girl ask for 30,000 in the first place? Do her parents know about it? She should be punished duely after investigating the case thoroughly.

This dentist shoul be publicly ashamed for having a desire for sex with under-aged girls. That will make the others like him also understand that it is not allowed.

"indecent behavior"

What? Kissing?

In addition to the moral issues of somebody who engages in child prostitution (him paying money and she being under the age of consent), it serves this chap right for trying to be a tight-ass and not pay the 30,000 yen.

At the same time, however, the money he saved on this little deal might come in very handy when he is struck off the register.

Adds a whole new meaning to the usual "open wide".

Only paid her half price, no wonder she ratted him out

Indecent behavior is enough of a description, don't you think? What, do they have to mention specific acts? No, especially if a "child" was involved.

Why does a 14 year old need 30,000 yen anyways?

Who knows if he did? He says he didn't know she was underage. It's he said/she said right now. I'm sure the police will pull the logs from the message board and find out the truth. Until then nobody should rush to judgment.

"Why does a 14 year old need 30,000 yen anyways?"

To buy that new {insert fashionable brand here} bag!

30,000 yen just might pay for those Chanel sunglasses she couldn't live without. Too bad she sold herself to get them. No self respect.

Wait, he's a doctor (sort of) and he couldn't tell the girl was under age. Give me a break.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Nowhere does it say he cheated her by only paying half price. Maybe he only offered her 15000 yen in the first place.

Anyway these dentists are quite wealthy. I know one and while I have never asked about his salary, I'm always surprised to hear how often he takes his family on overseas vacations. For someone like him 15000 yen for an oral check would be small change.

Many of those "kids" are 14-going-on-24. They know they can get away with minimal repercussions should the excrement hit the senpuki.

Since when is 18 the age of consent in Japan? I thought it was lower... In the US i think is 16.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The Article 177 of the Penal Code puts the age of consent for sexual actitvity at thirteen (13) years. So the dentist is a scumbag and, the girl is, what?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The dentist is a grub. However, I've read stories that even some elementary school girls have done the same thing...a pretty high price for them to pay for just a few trivial brand name luxuries.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Kapuna - Correct! As I don't understand why you would want to shag a little girl; if the dentist didn't pay her he didn't break any laws. I think this came to light because of money, plain and simple. Should of paid her the full amount ;)

Disgusting !!!

The age of consent in the US varies a lot by state. In Florida, it can also be based on the age difference, so under 25 years old and 17 I think is not a crime. I think Missouri's and maybe Utah's age limits are lower than the rest of the states.

Oh, and consent by the minor or a mistake or lack of knowledge of the minor's age is no defense in the US. It is "strict liability". It doesn't matter if you met her at a bar, saw her graduate from school, or saw her ID. Hopefully, the rule is the same in Japan to protect the kids from lecherous people like this dentist.

By the way, I did see an article regarding a club in Shinjuku with teens who met older men for cash, bags and what not. It was eventually raided by the police since it was a essentially a front for pairing kids with adults for "indecent behavior". Surely there are more of these popping up to replace it since this avenue probably provides an easy route for these girls to obtain these sought after designer items.

You people are so behind the times. "Why does a 14 year old need 30,000 yen anyways?" Cell phone bill!

How else can she chat/e-mail and keep up todate on requesting more money on the "web site".

I think someone should send the keystone cops to bokudayo's apartment or keep an eye on him.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

There are local laws in most areas of Japan that make it a crime for an legal adult (those of you 20 and older) to have carnal relations with anyone under 18. Remember that.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Like US states, the age of consent also varies on Japanese prefectures. The dentist could probably check her true age by examining her teeth with his tongue!

Just leave the money on the dresser and say she stole it.

It's a shame the cause of the problem is not addressed. The parents haven't done a very good job teaching the kid to stay out of trouble. No doubt she'll be at it again in the none too distant future.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Funny thing is, her homeroom teacher at school will probably be held more responsible than the parents. Teacher is always called first when kid gets into trouble, whether it's the police calling or anyone else. Guess those morality classes can't replace a good home environment...

Read After school keynotes by Amy Yamada and you can understand the behavioral pattern of the high school girls. Strange that the old tricks are still used. Only idiots can fall into this trap.

Another pervert. If you know such perverted people, give them to the police immediately.

How do you know this guy's a pervert? He hasn't been proven to have done anything wrong, just accused.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

He hasn't been proven to have done anything wrong,

Just trying to help the poor little girl, huh?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Enjou Kosai alive and well. I have no moral outrage here, not one bit of sympathy for either party. If the dentist is guilty he broke the law. The girl on the other hand knows damn well what she's doing and calling a prostitute a "child" is disingenous.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The thing that's especially pathetic in this story is that the actual "transaction" was 15,000 yen, half what the girl was looking for. That's just setting the stage for a second round of "indecent behavior" to get the full amount.

Disgusting on all counts.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Arrested doesn't mean convicted. While there are too many perverted people out there, to believe she had no idea of his intentions (if proven) is to be too naive. Do you really think even a 14 yo female had no idea at all? I doubt it.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The fact that the minors can't get in trouble for this is troubling. I believe they should be just as responsible for a crime they are willingly doing. I certainly believe the doctor did wrong, but the girl isn't exactly white as snow...

Simple: If she is under age then she is not responsible for her actions. He should have known better.

This is one of those unfortunate easy "truths" that people like to spout. Kids are retarded until magically the whole world is revealed to them at age 18 (20?) and become capable of doing wrong.

However, it is understandable. People have no way to prove things one way or another so we set rules, rules where individual circumstances are too troublesome to go through each time. "Minors" have the ability to scheme and do wrong, but we have been shaped by the government to think otherwise. Many 22 year olds have the same mindset as any teen, yet they are not given that same benefit of the doubt.

Still it continues to irk me that people believe the convenient justice system and the magic of "turning of age." 18 (20?) is way too late for some kids, way too early for others; I don't even believe that's a good average. It's just the law and has little to do with what they knew better or not.

If there ARE e-mails, then this guy's case is not looking to good depending on what was writen in those e-mails.

I'm confused as to why a teacher would be held accountable for something that happens to a middle school student at 4pm. Does middle school stay in session that late in Japan? Also, are Japanese schools in session at all in late April? I know Japan's educational "breaks" differ from ours.

Has anybody seen her photo. It's possible even though she is 14, she might look 18 years or older. It happens all the time. He is only being accused. About money changing hands, was there any witness, if not, it's her words against his. She might be lying. Give him his rights and not judge before all the facts are reviewed.

Just trying to help the poor little girl, huh?

"Poor Little Girls" aren't hooking up with men on cell phone sites. I wouldn't be surprised if she misrepresented her age to him. God knows it's so unusual for a teenager to lie.

Arrested doesn't mean convicted.

On the Japan Today forum if you are arrested then you are automatically guilty.
