Doctor arrested over prank calls to medical association head

FUKUSHIMA —

A 44-year-old male doctor has been arrested on suspicion of harassing the chairman of the Fukushima Medical Association by making more than 100 prank calls to his home.

The doctor, identified as Iwao Ajima, has been charged with a breach of prefectural anti-harassment laws. According to police investigations, Ajima is believed to have called the chairman’s home, often without saying a word, over 100 times, inflicting emotional distress on the chairman’s wife. Ajima has denied the charges, saying, “I only ever called him when I had a valid reason.”

The two doctors are reported to have had no connection to one another aside from their membership of the Fukushima Medical Association. Police investigations are ongoing.

techall: agreed! I think it must have been a mistake. I know I have done that more than once with my cell phone...didn't lock the keys and it decided to make a few calls of its own.

don't you have to have an arnie schwarzenegger sound board, and say "who's your daddy" a lot for it to be a prank call?

An old girlfriend many moons ago pulled this one me. Went on for years. Around 2:00 am a call, total silence then a click. How did I know it was her? The idiot had a wall-clock in the same room as her phone with a distinctive ticking sound. Ah memories ...
