Elementary school teacher arrested for stealing women's underwear

Police said Wednesday that they discovered around 100 pairs of women’s panties at the home of an elementary school teacher’s home in Sakaide city on Tuesday after using a hidden camera on the victim’s terrace to record the thief in the act.
The suspect, Ryosuke Iwasaki, 28, was arrested for stealing after he was recorded snagging a pair of panties from the clothesline of a 27-year-old local woman some time between 5 a.m. on July 23 and 9 a.m. on July 24. A search of Iwasaki’s home later revealed a stash of around 100 undergarments.
According to police, the woman had noticed her underwear had gradually gone missing since March, and after making a complaint in June, authorities decided to hide a camera on her balcony to try and catch the perpetrator.

Summer holidays, and the schools need babysitters. Can't fire him until the school years starts again. Seriously, though... seeing a woman IN her underwear is a pretty sexy thing -- and even better when you get to see them take it off (sorry) -- but stealing them from a wash line to get your kicks? Come on! You could just go buy some at some vending machine somewhere.

Take a walk off the usual-beaten paths (under Shinkansen tracks for example) and you'll find among other things, women's underwear. A Japanese friend told me thieves usually grab more than one pair, find a secluded spot to go through their takings, then chuck what they don't want.

I love to look at women s underwear in department stores, but I am not sure if I would go out and start stealing cleaned underwear, or even used and uncleaned but I am afraid to say that, I can understand a sexual fantasy involving say, very white, see through yummy sexy underwear, hopefully with some nice smelling perfume.

I don't get it. At best they're a little stained, but they are always stealing CLEAN underwear. Heck, if you want CLEAN underwear, go to the store and buy some. Nothing wrong with a dude buying ladies underwear, since it'd be assumed that it's a gift.

I know, it's bizarre. My guess is that in most cases the person stealing the skivvies knows or at least has seen the person he steals from. They probably reckon, "He she wore these... had them pressed against her..." and that allows them to somehow vicariously be the 'thing' pressed against them if they possess the underpants. I mean, this teacher came back to the place at least once, right?
I know, I'm 'stretching' things a bit, but just trying to rationalize it myself. Still pretty stupid and sick, whatever way you slice it.

Stealing women's underwear is right up there with all the other icons and customs of modern Japanese culture. Thanks for posting these stories JT my family and friends back home love these stories and have a laugh everytime they see a Japanese man in their neighborhoods and cities!

And this is why I don't hang them OUTSIDE. Granted if this world were perfect, you wouldn't even have to worry about something as simple as hanging your underwear out to dry, geez. I don't understand the men who do this at all. Sick.
