Ex-boyfriend arrested for stabbing woman to death in Kyoto

KYOTO —

Police on Monday arrested a 25-year-old man for fatally stabbing his 23-year-old ex-girlfriend at her apartment in Kyoto City. Shohei Kitamura was arrested for allegedly stabbing Mariko Ishikawa around 5:40 a.m. He turned himself in at a local police station at noon.

The victim was found bleeding in the corridor outside her apartment by a neighbor who had heard a scream. Police found a knife with bloodstains in the suspect’s apartment.

Police said their investigations showed that Ishikawa ended the relationship at the end of last year, but Kitamura had been repeatedly urging her to get back together with him.

He loves her but she doesn't love him. It is not like 'Romeo and Juliet,' but perhaps changing time for 'Valentines Day.' If he is ugly looking than he had reason trying to get her back. If he is good looking than he is an 'idiot.' And now he is like a snail in deep water.

Must be very hard for Japanese to seek and nurture new relationships. Maybe they can buy robots that will talk to them.

25? Nothing of that sort ever crossed my mind at that age.

Man, there are some unstable folks out there. Stay safe people.

Those of us that have lived in Japan long enough will agree...there's nothing more fragile than the ego or non-ego a j-man. He did what he felt he had to do to. In his puny emotionally inept mind, he had no other choice.

    Tragic but all too common.

Sad to say Spidey, but I do agree with your sentiments.

You can thank the public school system which rewards failure with a pat on the back and a pass to the next grade for fostering the sort of thinking that leads to this.

her children were in protective custody according to the article yesterday. The only people who did not do their jobs were the Japanese police. Social services did their bit. J-cops need a hell of a flogging.

Guys, there are all sorts of murders all over the world where restraining orders have been given and the police have been involved. Perhaps you think the Jcops should have provided a armed escort? In reality the police can't be everywhere.

This is a heinous crime and the jerk should get a sharp one at the end of a rope, but to blame the cops is unrealistic.

Poor girl didn't deserve this; none of them do. It would be nice if we could get the mental defectives out of society but I don't know how to do that.

One woman's tragic end, sad story.

As usual half the JT commentors have not lost the chance to put down the country/ its people/ men/ whatever is on the menu today.

I can't agree. I know plenty of well-balanced, kind Japanese men. Perhaps more so than back home. But I suppose there's nothing like picking on anonymous faceless crowds of people you don't know and can't understand to make yrself feel superior.

no! this obviously 'japanese style' murder. why? the murderer "turned himself in at a local police station". it's apparently japanese only feature.
