Was he EX before she died or after the fact and the EX is just another face saving. Is extremely sad that their is inconsistencies in her death, but why is every criminal in japan or abroad ( Japanese) always referred to as EX.

Yet another sorrid murder within the Japanese family unit. Japan is very safe if you are single and live far from you family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really glum situation and feel sorry with the poor parent who have to face this situation of attending courts after losing their sweetheart and beloved daughter. May Allah bless them all.

The whole story is quite unique for Greek standards. The key here is the fact that the victim was not married to the father of the child. As is reported here, the victim's mother pressured her daughter to get custody of her child. IMO, this a combination of old school thinking, maybe typical to posh people and this perceived Japanese thinking regarding family issues - who belongs to whom, whose responsibility is a single mother's child, etc. Funny thing is the alleged murderer is the mother who is Greek and not the father, the Japanese ex diplomat. I wonder if she was conditioned by years of living with a Japanese into this kind of thinking. Sad for Amphithea - the father will definitely get custody of the child and that woman if found guilty will spend time in prison and will not see her grandchild again. Dumb woman...

Wow! what a tangled web we weave!!!
I can see why it is a sensational story. All manner of skullduggery and intrigue.

I saw it in the news here.. That was so sad, indeed. I wonder what kind of explanations will give to the daughter of the victim when she grows up...

Just very strange, not a enough details to really make heads or tales of. If the mother did kill her it must have been unplanned as she told conflicting stories and certainly didn't cover up very well. I think we have to wait for more information before we can determine exactly who is guilty of what.

Sounds like mother and daughter had an argument, and mother pushed daughter down the stairs, and then when dad got involved he decided it was better to have her commit suicide than be murdered, and slit her wrist.
It's a full cultural mish-mash going on here. I guess grandma wanted the child...

This case is clearly intriguing and more details undoubtedly will come out under questioning. It appears to be a family matter behind the crime and the fact that the father is an ex-JP diplomat, his wife is Greek or that this case is taking place in Greece is irrelevant to the crime.

Your right seggahme...this looks just like a Erucle Poirrot case if I've ever seen one. The setting is just right if Mr. Poirrot were on vacation in Greece. Who knows maybe the Vacatin is involved in this too!
