in all these cases it makes sense that at least a few of the women have husbands/boyfriends, correct ? why is it we never hear about one of these guys beating the snot out of the groper ? are j guys totally without balls ?

I don't think that University is the place that the president of the University's Social Welfare department should be blamed for this sort of thing.

Wilbur: I agree with you. But I think in most cases the women prefer to remain anonymous and/or never report it at all. Clearly, it doesn't mention the women's names in the article, but is it clear to their significant others that it was them who was groped/molested? If so, then I agree with you 100% -- the guys are wimps for at least not approaching the old man.

A Canadian buddy of mine caught a guy after he groped his fiancee on a JR train. He threw the guy against the door and was yelling at him in English (the man cowering in fear), then they both dragged him to the station manager. In fact, my buddy was threatened with deportation over it (they left a few months later, utterly pissed off), because you 'just don't strike a Japanese national', but the police suggested they wouldn't raise a stink if they agreed to accept a 500,000 yen payment from the man instead of taking it to court. That's no lie. He didn't want to accept it, but the fiancee didn't want him deported before their wedding, so he reluctantly agreed. May lack balls for that, perhaps, but at least he called the guy up on the groping.

It says '5' female employees, meaning the 5 who had the guts to report him. Who knows how many he molested in total?

I can't imagine why these girls let him do that to them. I wouldn't care if he WAS my boss, or if I would get fired- I'd have scratched his eyes out. He would have gone home BLOODY.

Why aren't Japanese women taught to fight? Admittedly there are many foreign women who may not have fought back, but it's all too common in Japan for women, afraid of looking "unfeminine", allowing themselves to be taken advantage of.

I only WISH I get the chance to go off on a chikan...."you don't hit a Japanese national"...Oh, REALLY? muhahahaha.....!!!

I don't really think it's fair to suggest that Japanese men don't have the chutzpah to deal with this situation as there are several things that you are automatically assuming.

First, you're assuming that the women actually have boyfriends, or husbands. You don't know that. Maybe this guy only targeted single women feeling that they would 'welcome' his charms.

Secondly, whose to say that the women even told anyone? There are many who would keep all of this under a cone of silence simply to avoid the embarrassment. I seem to recall from other news stories that women victims are often portrayed as the instigator in sexual harassment cases. Maybe they felt that if they talked to someone, they would be blamed.

Obviously some women came forward, but they might have done so without even telling family members, etc for feeling shameful (even though there is no shame on their part).

Lastly, if someone actually went after this guy without going to the law first, the result would have been disastrous as the pervert would now have a case against the victim's friend. Had it been an immediate reaction, perhaps that might be overlooked, but not a planned attack.

I find it quite interesting to read that Japan not a developed country and lacks moral discipline. Every country has it's faults and I really don't know which country that's being referred to (which is more developed and has moral discipline than Japan). Certainly nothing in North America. I can't really vouch for any European countries. So what country is this I wonder?

Let's get down to the root of the problem shall we? This individual has an addiction that he has not taken control of. Real men have their sexual drives in check. With the immorality in the country running amok, more and more TV shows, movies, etc tintalize the sex drive. I'll wager this man has a pornography addiction and was acting on those same impulses.

It is a tragedy that the culture either accepts or does nothing about the smut that is easily purchased in a 7-11.

Revenge in the form of aggressive action only makes things worse. But you really want to beat the living doo doo out of someone who messes with your mother, you know? Personally, I think the women should fight him off, jab him in the testicles with a pencil or something.
