Its sad to say, but this sort of thing will only increase with the worsening economy. Corrupt, inept bureaucrats should take heed and act more responsibly or else more of them will make the ultimate sacrifice. With all the crazy decisions they hand down, I cannot believe Japanese judges have not met the same fate...

There is no use blaming corrupt bureaucrats and implying that they got what they deserved, as some readers are doing. There is no justification for this sort of criminal act. Even if someone felt cheated out of his pension, there can be no excuse for such violence. Times are tough for a lot of people who have lost their jobs, health insurance, etc, but killing bureaucrats is not the answer.

This country is in a recession so you will see more political attacks like this one. I do not know if he was a good politician or a bad politican. Seems to me this was pre-mediated or real organized plan of attack. Domestic Terrorism ???? It's scary times now.

....So if there were no political motives, then it's pardonable?
We may be able to add this to the growing list of terrorist acts in Japan that were once again NOT committed by foreigners.
FreeInJapan at 04:43 PM JST - 19th November
Not condoning these kinds of acts or making excuses for whomever did this, but one point of view could be that introducing a little anarchy may, emphasis on MAY, wind up going a long way towards convincing the ineffective Japanese bureaucrats to finally change their stubborn ways. Especially if they notice they're slowly getting "knocked off" one by one...

Considering the attacker's age, he might have been hired to silence these two former vice ministers. Was there a chance that these guys might have talked during an upcoming investigation on the mismanagement of pensions?

Why are cops still dancing around? Sure that was a bloody 'Tango for two,' turned into 'Western Cowboys.' Bloody footprints can benefit forensic to proceed with their search. Suspects are idiots that were walking on blood. Now that health ministry is well protected they can do what they want not questions asking. Sure it isn't good for such violence on white collars, perhaps now they will do better job under new security.
