The wrong-doer has to be punished; whether he is Japanese or not. This has nothing to do with the love of your land and the zealous way to protect the name of the country and its citizen. It would be a great achievement if Japan can improvise its justice system to keep up to the world standards.

Jkanda ... he will be punished. On the contrary, also he should not be treated more harshly (or leniently) just because she was a foreign girl.

I think the most fitting punishment would be the same as what a Japanese person would get for killing a fellow Japanese, under similar circumstances.

I am apprehensive to say the hawkers will receive 'justice'. The prosecutors cannot prove the murder was premeditated., and this whimp is sticking by his story of accidental murder. We all know he killed her intentionally, but proving it in a Japanese court is another story, sadly.

Disillusioned, If I were a prosecutor for this case, I would ask why this guy had to bury her body?

What was his intension for a plastic surgery?

If this was caused by accident as he claims, then why didn't he report it right away to police?

Anything can happen in trial. Hope these prosecutors will do a good job for justice.

And, strangling is not accidental. If a bullet went off while he was handling a gun, and then it killed her.

That is accidental, This killer knew exactly what he was doing when he was strangling her unless he went to insanity plea. That's not the case here..

He'll be found guilty of abandoning the body and nothing else IMO. 2 years in jail (sequel book potential), a 3-year suspended sentence and the whole incident will be described as "regrettable"

A man was sentenced to DEATH for a killing of a Chiba student, that is the standard I will use for this case. And the details in this case are far worse.

Whatever he did after murdering her doesn't prove anything about premeditation, which is what Disillusioned was on about...

this whimp is sticking by his story of accidental murder. We all know he killed her intentionally

1) There's no such thing as "accidental murder". Using such a term is clear evidence of a lack of understanding of how the law works.

2) How do we "all know he killed her intentionally"? I don't. I wasn't there. Were you?

Honestly speaking: DON'T ATTEND PLEASE!!! I have been to trials in Japan & they are not only tiresome & stressful as a foreigner needing translation, but also because the nature of Japanese courts is not designed to accomodate anything other than testimonies in Japanese, and also it is quite obvious the courts are not prepared to deal with things non-Japanese.

Point being: the family will get even more stressed than they normally would in an English court.

I doubt the family are stupid enough to think a Japanese court, trying a Japanese citizen, would be conducted in any other language then Japanese.

It is the trial of a Japanese citizen, therefore has nothing to do with "things non-Japanese"

Point being: the family will get even more stressed than they normally would in an English court.

I think they would have less stress than just waiting for the outcome thousands of miles away at home...

Actually it could, if he had already had the bathtub on the balcony and all that stuff he buried the body in purchased and ready to go. But that is not what happened.
