how about the other Illegal immigrants who also didnt do any crime just overstaying who got deprted as well

Check out this page. You can read about the reasons for each case on the Ministry of Justice web site.

Jikku: I need your personal opinion on this, not passing me on some rules , of course your government will put out some allibys on these matters! i am asking about youir opinion not the Ministry of Justice's reasons, whatever it is its bullshit cause all of the Illegal immigrants here have the same goal, to have a better life and to fulffil dreams...and translate it to english first before you send it to me..She is illegal ! she needs to be punished! thats the law ! law is law! ... so it means you guys are eating your words now...

  • jikku67 at 03:52 PM JST - 13th March

all of the Illegal immigrants here have the same goal, to have a better life and to fulffil dreams

Sorry. That's no excuse for sneaking into other countries and breaking laws.

translate it to english first before you send it to me

How about you study Japanese if you want to live in Japan?

She is illegal ! she needs to be punished

Not anymore. She is a legal immigrant now. The Japanese government is giving the same chance to Noriko so what's your problem?

  • noypikantoku at 04:11 PM JST - 13th March

Jikku67: Yeah she was illegal! and your government made her legal which I dont see the point why!???thats the point she got away with the punishement and instead became legal!!!why!!!! just answer my question why!!!??? ...anyway I dont have time to argue with a racist like you! I am not good in Japanese but I am living here more useful than some Natives! I am helping your economy!

  • jikku67 at 06:34 PM JST - 13th March

your government made her legal which I dont see the point why!?

Because it's not her fault, she was only 2 when she came here. It was her parents who broke the laws.

Same as Noriko's case, it wasn't her fault that her parents committed crime. That's why the Japanese government gave her permission to stay. But the parents who broke laws have to leave.

    a racist like you

(rolls eyes) This is racism how? Your comments show your lack of intelligence.

Iranian couple broke laws and got deported, but their daughter was allowed to stay since it wasn't her fault. Filipino couple will get deported because they broke laws, but their daughter was allowed to stay since it wasn't her fault.

I don't see any discrimination in these cases.

  • noypikantoku at 06:55 PM JST - 13th March

Jikku: she is 20 years old already! Eventhough she was brought up here when she was 2 , she must know that she is living here illegaly because she is 20 yes old and the fact that her family was deported she must ask herself why they got deported! If she doesn't know that , there's something wrong with her.....

  • jikku67 at 07:03 PM JST - 13th March

she is 20 years old already!

She was 11 years old when her parents got caught. Her parents got deported when she was 18. Check the news more carefully.

  • noypikantoku at 07:16 PM JST - 13th March

Jikku: why even 18 yr old know or 16. Yr old kid knows that they are illegal or not! The problem here is not her! It's Japan's incompetent policies! Accept that ! Japan screwed up here from the fact that accepting Noriko to schools eventhough she's illegal and the fact Japan not punishing the Iranian girl for being illegal alien, Shame on Japan! Nothing is perfect even Japan.... I don't wanna waste time arguing with an un-gloabalized minded person like you....I have a life! Bubye need to start my weekend! ;-p

  • jikku67 at 07:31 PM JST - 13th March

Japan screwed up here from the fact that accepting Noriko to schools eventhough she's illegal and the fact Japan not punishing the Iranian girl for being illegal alien, Shame on Japan!

So you think the government should punish these innocent children? Shame is on you.

If you don't like Japan, you know you can always leave.

"What's still most impressive to me about the Philippines is the friendliness of the people, their sense of humor...," wrote Honolulu journalist John Griffin in a 1998 visit to Manila.

  • kramiczzz7 at 09:28 AM JST - 14th March

I think Noriko had better go back to Phil with her parents, where love and support from families abound, and she will be happy for sure. Why not? Philippines is the best country in the World.

  • letstalk at 07:06 PM JST - 14th March

And besides only the poorest people in Phil. goes to Japan, no big deal for middle class and rich ones , Theyre not so crazy about Japan , so take your country with you....

noypikantoku: I am also a Filipino and I beg to disagree with you! Don't generalize. You do not know everyone so you cannot speak for everyone.

You keep on talking about your college degree blah-blah. If that is so, why can't you keep an intelligent conversation and stop on repeatedly blabbering about the same issue. Don't rub it in. You keep on blaming Japan for what you say is "its incompetence". If you are so unhappy about Japan, it's just one plane ticket away from your misery. Every country has its flaws. And not because it took time before the "Japanese government" caught the Calderons does not mean it is completely their fault. The fact remains that eventually, they were caught. No question about the time frame. They did their job no matter how long it took.

If you say that Japan is inhumane in not letting the Calderons stay with their daughter Noriko while she is underage, will it not be more inhumane if with one look at a foreign face the teachers would jump and check on a child's status? Every child has a right to education. At least that is how I feel. Let me remind you that it is not the teachers' duty to check on a child's visa status. Although they could have checked but did not, I still do not find them liable for it. What happened to your friend in Australia could be one of those isolated cases where they were checked and denied. I have heard of people who are illegally in a country (America, South Africa, and other countries) who were able to send their children to school. I do not agree that children should be ostracized and denied education just because their parents brought them illegally into a country. It is not their fault. That would be more inhumane.

If the Calderons were just overstayers maybe they had a chance to stay but they forged their passports. It's a serious crime. These people give Filipinos a bad image and make it more difficult for other Filipinos to apply for visas.

jikku67: I could not agree with you more. I have heard of people who were denied entry into some country merely because they are Philippine passport holders. Sad!

My standing opinion on this would be. Noriko should stay to continue her studies. Japan is being lenient on this part so she should take this opportunity. She can be a plus factor to Japan's society when she becomes an adult. But the parents should be deported. Why? They have to end the issue about their fake passports. Apply for real ones and come back clean. All it takes is a little sacrifice to be away from each other for a while. At least it would be much better than their situation now. Where the issue always comes back to their identities. I know it is hard for them to be facing the same issue over and over again. But I think this is the only way to remedy the situation.

  • timberlandic at 09:09 PM JST - 14th March

You nailed it on the head, letstalk and jikku67. While I feel sorry for the Calderons, this huge mess was their own doing. No matter how people paint them as victims of "Japan's inhumanity", they came here with fake identities in the first place! And now that they've been caught, they're using their daughter to once again fool the Japanese government. Enough is enough! They should count themselves lucky to have had the opportunity to live and work here for a long time -- albeit illegally. Japan is already being very generous with them by allowing Noriko to stay and allowing the parents to visit here within the 5 year period.

Good to know that they're finally going home. That's the price they have to pay for faking their passports. Hopefully, they've learned a good lesson from all these and will do everything by the book next time.

  • Pukey2 at 07:36 PM JST - 15th March

The more they try to emphasize the fact that Noriko can only speak Japanese, the less convinced I am. There are lots of Fillipinos who have come to Japan through the right channels - and this crime just doesn't help their image. And why on earth did the parents come to Japan in the first place if they knew what the repercussions would be? Why not go to a more welcoming place like USA? Is there somthing here that attracts people like the Kurds, etc? For the Kurds coming here, it could be even more dangerous, as in the recent case where the Jp authorities checked with Turkey, and thus endangering their lives back in Turkey were they to be sent back.
