Female quake shelter volunteer injured in attempted rape in Miyagi

KESSENUMA —

A female volunteer working in an evacuation center in Kesennuma, Miyagi Prefecture, was the victim of an attempted rape on Sunday, police said. It is believed that the victim and her attacker were acquainted through her work at the shelter, which had been set up to help victims of the earthquake and tsunami that struck the Tohoku region on March 11.

According to police, the attack took place at dawn. The suspect, identified as Kazuhiko Nagata, 38, allegedly attacked the woman while she slept, punching her face and neck in what police believe to have been an attempted sexual assault. The woman, originally from Kanagawa
Prefecture, sustained several injuries, including gashes caused by a utility knife that Nagata was allegedly brandishing.

Nagata was arrested for attempted assault and attempted rape. According to police, Nagata has so far refused to admit to the charges during questioning, saying only “I don’t know.”

Dude, I hope you burn for this one.

Are you really such a big man that you need to punch and slash a girl to show your love?

Hope you can still say "I don't know" while your sitting in prison.

I bet they get showers at least once a week, and a lot more food and privacy in jail.

What sexual joy can any person get from hurting someone to achieve an orgasm. Humans are messed up!

"I don't know" sounds out of context and has a different meaning in English.

If he is saying 知りません (shirimasen or sharanai) then the odds are it means, "I have no idea what you are talking about" or "You must have the wrong person. Sorry..."

Wow, if punching her in the face and neck and cutting her with a utiluity knife are only "attempted" assault, I wonder what an actual assault would be?

I'm not sure an attempted rape should be included in the "What's hot" category.

Agreed, Ivan Coughanawfullot. I have done several double-takes recently with that category... LOL

Now here is a good way to express your desire. Punch the woman in the face and cut her with a knife. Surely she will say she loves you very much after that.. Or invite her for a beer and some talk. Some dudes need schooling.

Please don't tell us you are betting on the idea that she cut herself up and intentionally fell down the stairs to get those shiners? I mean its possible. Its also highly unlikely.

I am happy to let this go to trial based on the idea of innocent until proven guilty. But geez, this case is pretty unlikely to have any surprises.

Yes, I checked the Japanese version on Yahoo news and it was said as a denial of the charge. 知らない」と否認しているという。

They also report that she only sustained light injuries, which is miraculous if true. Hopefully she will get good support there to make a full recovery and shelters can find a way to better protect workers.
