MIYAGI —
A 21-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday for sneaking into a 25-year-old snack bar owner’s apartment in Tagajo City, Miyagi Prefecture, and threatening him with an iron pipe, police said Wednesday. The suspect used to work at the bar but was recently fired.
Kazuki Ohira was arrested for allegedly sneaking into the apartment around 9:30 a.m. He was found inside a closet holding an iron pipe by two other employees who share the apartment with the bar owner.
Ohira told police he was fired in February after working there since last December, and “tried to take revenge on the owner.”

Any theories on why he was fired in the first place? My bet is it had something to do with anger issues...

Well, it's a step up from living in a car with your boss, I guess.

what exactly is a 'snack bar?'
bandogeek at 10:28 PM JST - 11th March
There are plenty of other snack bars in Japan to get a job in. If not McDonald's is always hiring! Is getting fired from a job like that really worth going to jail over?

This man needs therapy, lots of therapy.

Basically, a cheaper version of a hostess bar. Usually without the same number of host/esses. More low-key and often karaoke at the bar. Waste of dough, especially if you are served by someone wielding an iron bar...

hiding in the closet with his iron pipe in his hand. . . in the apartment the boss shares with his other 2 employees. . . this apparently isnt the whole story. . .

This is the happy outcome of a sad situation, through the result of tight gun laws.
USARonin at 07:16 AM JST - 12th March
BCBrownBoy, that all depends on your definition of 'happy outcome'.
Would you rather be shot and just get it over with, or would you rather be beaten and terrorized to death over a longer period of time with an iron pipe?

I don't blame him. Now he is unemployed, and who will give him another job? Accused only threatened him to get his job back. 'ECONOPHOBIA IS GROWING.'
