Former bar hostess sentenced to death for two murders
TOTTORI —
The Tottori District Court on Tuesday sentenced a former bar hostess to death for the murder of two men in 2009.
According to the court ruling, Miyuki Ueta, 38, murdered Kazumi Yabe, 47, a truck driver, and Hideki Maruyama, 57, a store owner, NTV reported. Ueta owed both men money, the court heard. Yabe drowned in the sea, while Maruyama met a similar fate in a river. Autopsies revealed that both men had been drugged before they went into the water.
A panel of six lay judges handed down the guilty ruling in the 75-day trial.
Lawyers for Ueta, who admitted to defrauding the two men but denied killing them, said they will appeal the ruling, claiming the prosecution’s case was based solely on circumstantial evidence, NTV reported.

Remind me not to loan money to a girl working at a Hostess. Not that I frequent those establishments...

Understand there were 4 other men she knew who died suspiciously. Wonder how they are going to be treated.

Having seen her face in the news, I'm having a hard time understanding how she made it to being a hostess or how she attracted men. Were these guys that desperate?

Pukey2: There are hostess clubs which focus on a particular demand.

Death sentence?

That is generally what 'sentenced to death' means.

I hope there is more evidence for this sentence. I mean you cannot sentence somebody to death just because she owned money and the victim was murdered. Yes, it is highly suspicious that she owned money to several people who turned out dead in a similar way, but circumstantial evidence should not be enough for a death sentence

No doubt here that she did it, but the shots on the TV last night show someone who maybe needs to be locked away for her own good, but how the death penalty will benefit her or anyone is a mystery. Almost as if she couldn't comprehend the sentence being handed to her (vacant eyes, mouth hanging open). At times like this, going strictly by the law book scares me.

There wasn't much evidence for a case involving the death sentence. No confessions, no DNA, just the word of her room mate. Not saying she's not guilty but it needed stronger evidence before sentencing her to death.

When will she be executed...... how many years from now. Like the leader of AUM... when will he be executed for his crimes. Japan is spending money for their daily needs in jail.

Where's the dead-set, irrefutable evidence?

So pretty much the same service that women are charging men for at the girlfriend cafe? Christ, this country is pathetic at times.

No idea how that ended up on here - that was supposed to be for the boyfriend thing.

Wow, me thinks! She will live many more years before she is executed. That's part of the punishment - not knowing "when".

Hang her,get it over and done with. Then spend some of my tax money on Iwate and the likes.

Men should think twice before they lend cash to low life porkers like her.

It benefits the taxpayers. I'm sure they would be glad to commute the sentence to life - once you guarantee that you will personally be footing the bill for her incarceration (prison cell, food, sanitary needs, medical care) rather than the rest of the taxpayers for LIFE.
