Never, ever use e-mail or any other written correspondence when conducting an affair. Personally, I get along fine with smoke signals.

"and that he did not know what he would do if she refused to meet him, according to the ruling."

one can only hope that suicide crossed his mind

Why oh why oh why do most Japanese men have a sexual attraction to high school girls?

Two days ago I saw a 50 year old man on a crowded train looking at a porn magazine with girls in high school uniforms. He didnt seem to make any attempt to hide what he was looking at despite there being women and kids around him.

Why oh why oh why do most Japanese men have a sexual attraction to high school girls?

Not all men in Japan are pervs or sexual deviants. Like any country Japan has her share of creeps, but to assume based on the actions of a minority that the entire male population of a country of 127 million is messed up is a gross oversimplification.

Moderator: Readers, back on topic please.

ROT: fair point but i think its more than a minority

RepubofTex - I dont mean to come down on you, but I think most people that have lived in Japan for a short while would attest to the Japanese male fascination with high school girls. I dunno, maybe you havent lived in Japan. For me all it took was living in Japan for a few months and a couple trips to the magazine shops and video stores.

Lets not limit this to Tex and myself...other posters chime in.

Do you think (in general) there is a fascination among J men with high school girls compared to your countries of origin?

Moderator: Readers, comparisons to other countries are not relevant to this discussion.

    The guy was a fool.

The article, surprisingly, doesn't give the woman's present age; only that she is a former student. She could be, I suppose, 30, but I guess it's fairer to guess she's in her early 20s?

Judge Seiichi Nagata of the court’s Kumagaya branch said it was ‘‘absolutely unacceptable’’ for Ichikawa to maintain a relationship with the victim as school principal given that he was married with children.

Given that he was married with children?

so if he wasn't married, it would have been ok?

I recall from the news a few months back, this guy started dating her WHILE she was a student.

If she was under 18 he should be going down for rape

  • movieguy at 09:19 PM JST - 15th July

This man harrassed and threatened to KILL her and the prosecutors only asked for 18 months. Then the ridiculous judge has the nerve to say that it's "absolutely ridiculous" for him to have a relationship, but SUSPENDS the sentence. That'll learn 'em...

  • romulus3 at 10:21 PM JST - 15th July

    movieguy,

I think the punishment fits the crime. School principles are at large cowardly disciplinarians and have a deluded sense of power. this guy is ruined. he never had the power to kill. just manipulate. now he lost everything. he is finished and rightly so. I think if anything, a rape charge should be investigated. seems like a few dollars may have made it go away.

Suspended sentence means no time. Say again, how is this right? Is it just me, or does every crime, other then murder, always seem to result in a suspended sentence.

What is with Japanese high school girls infatuation with old skeezy geezers? I just don't get it. Ohhhhh, it was the LV bag that comes with only a few strings (that we need not mention) attached. Now I get it.

What kind of justice is this? "I'm going to kill you!" Sentence suspended for good deeds at work. WHAT??!?!??!?!? So in other words, woman gets threatened with death, they get the guy and judge says "Good Job" and lets him go? This is so very wrong...
