This has been happening way too much. Japanese employees get into senior positions at manufacturing firms. Then they're wooed by S. Korean and Chinese companies to come work for them, sometimes even after those employees retire, causing a hemorrhaging of knowledge from Japan Inc. -- from technological achievements to supply chain management know-how.

Now this happened in 2008, 5 years ago. That 2 life times in technology. Toshiba, you need to get your security together. And this kind of thing needs to be dealt with in a swift manner, not 5 years later.

No silver bullet? The crime calls for severe punishment. Decisive measures should be taken to prevent espionage.

Tip of the iceberg.

Ah, but when Toshiba handed over to a Russian agent classified information regarding US submarine stealth propulsion, that was okay. Right?

This seem to happen often these days to many Japanese companies. They only wanted him for the information and after he had nothing new to offer, they probably kicked him out. The fact that he is no longer employed at the rival company says it all.

This guy will get more time than if he had killed his family. The justice system here is wack.

SK is pretty well known at gathering technology and gaining an advantage over competitors, and eventually trashing them. Nowadays, however, Japan is so behind in new technology one wonders if there's any more interesting stuff left in it worth getting, from the SK point of view. As far as NAND flash is concerned, Samsung is already number one.

@rsgz4gg7y2 nope SK is ahead in marketing but the technology is Japanese and Toshiba is about equal to Samsung. SK can just produce mass quantity at a lower price than Japan so Japan looses out.
