  • techall at 01:10 PM JST - 7th January

According to the article, it's a re-furbished grenade as the explosives in side were different. Dummy grenades are available at any Army Surplus store and are sometimes used a s paperweights.

Isnt he a criminal already? Why is he on the streets to begin with? I didnt realize the police could charge you based on urine/blood tests...

I don't get this part; the case is the 10th time someone has been discovered illegally possessing a hand grenade in Japan. ??? (A short cut of meaning...) You must be kidding me; he didn't know that grenade was amongst his belongings. If this grenade did explode in his apartment only than will he knows? Is this 'scumbag' still walking free around? Why wasn't he put behind the bars? Someone is not smart thinker in Kanagawa.

people cannot be arrested based on drug tests. Yes, you can lose your job or your olympic medal, but not go to jail...

i even think that in the US a positive drug test is not even probable cause to get a warrant to conduct a search of one's house.

at least its good to know that j-cops are doing real work for a chance and harass the greaseball yakuza, unless its as a favor on behalf of a rival gang.

Why very good point...! Yes he is...Oh but did you know, the Japanese Government actually allows these criminal organizations to exist.... But you say, "Why in the world would they do that..?" And there is no real answer why the JN Gov't sanctions and puts their brand of approval for these gangs to exist...

So when you have Organizations with their stated sole purpose to make money from illegal activities, you are going to have plenty of bad and illegal things happening...

They have a thing called The RICO Statute in the U.S. It pretty well covers all the ways that organized crime families make money. But this Japan.... We wouldn't want to cut into their business...

too all foreign terrorists: do not try to smuggle any weapon in Japan. Your local yakuza will provide you what you need.

I suppose the government will be tightening the ban on grenade possession now?

  • justmeinto at 09:16 AM JST - 8th January

The holy hand grenade of Antioch no doubt.

I wonder if the paper it was wrapped in included the instructions:

'First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then, shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it.'

Aso is the Prime Minister of Japan, but who runs the country? The Yaks and the Korean pachinko empires, of course.

  • airrunwesker at 09:29 PM JST - 8th January

Thank goodness they didn't find his REAL stash!

  • FreeInJapan at 11:40 AM JST - 9th January

I think the whole thing is getting blown out of proportion...
