N Korea wants to get off the list of state sponsors of terrorism more than it needs to protect a handful of aged former Japanese student radicals. This guy thinks he will never have to face any consequence for hijacking an airliner. And he also thinks that the government of North Korea considers the rights of people to be above the survival of the regime. Seeya real soon, Wakabayashi.
As soon as nK is presented with a sweet enough deal, this guy will be shipped back here quicker than he can believe. I hope that when he does he will get a stiff sentence and not become some "c" list celebrity pushing the nK agenda.
Its upto Kim to decide and probably his fate along with other Hijackers is already decided. But so what, What Kim has to lose? They are Japanese, let them return to Japan and face torture or trial there.
seiosig, it seems that they had a great time there. They got free trips to Europe where they helped to abduct Arimoto and other Japanese victims of the regime there, plus they get to live like royalty in comparison to everyone else.
And no matter how bad it is over there (bad enough to convince other hijackers to return and face the music), he still seems to prefer it to Japanese prison. Kim Jong Il should realize that this guy is a liability to his regime and deal with him.

Oh course not. NK is all talk and Japan is too weak/scared to do anything.

Have these hijackers actually enjoyed their experience as Japanese expats to communist North Korea?
