I don't want to point out the completely obvious, but many Japanes male school teachers are "loli kons" they are pedophiles, they have the Lolita Complex, some crazy facination with young girls, and Japanese society must wake up to this crisis. We send our kids to school believing they are in a safe environment, just to have these idiot pedophiles wait like hungry crocodiles for innocent deer. I don't think this 14 year old jr. prostitute is innocent at all, but most young girls are not like her, and just a few bad apples(jr. prositutes in training) is all these pedophiles need to go ape.
elbudamexicano, you too don't seem to be able to separate a fascination with an incident either.
Do you have an interest in any of your coworkers? God knows I do. But it does NOT mean I take advantage of them, or ever will. But SOME guys do. No difference with this. You are just being overly paranoid because a couple guys went bad and you are way down on their fascination. Its interesting that you don't do this same thing with guys that stalk and sexually harrass their coworkers, and insist that all hetero men are dangerous since just about all hetero men have fancied a coworker at some point, even if it is strictly against the rules to date a coworker. And I would wager that that fascination has gone bad more often than this one.
What is the difference if they have a desire but don't generate any victims? Or do you just feel the need to make it absolutely clear to everyone that YOU are not one of THEM, and therefore post a strong accusatory opinion?
Use of 'in the wake of' in: "Abo allegedly paid for the girl at a hotel in the city of Hiroshima on June 7, 2008 in the wake of the arrest on May 12 that year of Naoki Morita, a 43-year-old teacher at the same elementary school"
...makes it seem that when the first guy was arrested, the second guy stepped in and continued to give her money partly in order to help her out, (quite apart from getting his rocks off) possibly at the bidding/request of the first arrested teacher.
generalizing maybe, watch the japanese media and notice the amount of young idols in skimpy clothes to the amount of older female idols in Japanese shows.
Strange how much of these incidents(prostitution, gropping) occur with politicians, police and teachers.
likeitis - I'm not trying to have a go at you, and I'm sure you're a nice guy/girl...but your logic is flawed and you argue semantics. In short, you are living in la la land.
Oh God is it that bad: Police were investigating some 200 names on that list... Is Japan obsess with sexism? We can't even trust our children in schools. This issue is well known all over the world. Will this teacher get also suspended sentence to go back teaching. I tell you what: 'If he done this to my child I'll hunt him down until either of us is still walking around alive.' He is sick scumbag and should be locked up for few years until he dry out.
biglittleman: When was this story about Naoki Morita? I don't remember it in the news. Dos any have a link to it. I tried a search and couldn't find it.
Same here. I wanted to confirm this rape allegation. I found a story in Japanese that confirms the charge, but I suspect its a trumped up charge and they are reaching too far intentionally so as to not reach too short, because, come on, an elementary school girl gets raped by her teacher and we did not hear about it? No way.
I bet the other 199 name son the list are quaking right now! They will know who they are! Wonder how many school teachers, doctors, policemen and judges are on the list??!
I have always been shocked that ANYONE can work with children here with no background checks whatsoever. In the UK you have to have a criminal check even as a care assistant, teaching assistant, member of the church, etc. It`s not a fool-proof system but it goes a long way to screening any potential dangerous individuals. My daughter starts elementary school next year - this is something that is constantly on my mind. How on earth do you protect your children when you hand them over every day to what could be anyone?

I agree my daughter is at a Japanese elementary school and I am wary of any male teachers because there are no background checks.(Even at international schools and unis). But even worse are the English conversation schools that employ any man with a visa and speaker of English to teach children. There is no way to be sure if they are wanted in their home countries and this is a big loophole for pedophiles and they know it.

Thank you Medievaltimes.
Accurate, fair, and graciously put. I'm sure the cheerleaders for Japan all living in denial will rebut soon though.

Just unbelievably sick. And a teacher at that. There are plenty of ADULT ladies always available so why go for a young child?

"after promising to pay her 30,000 yen last June"
He never paid her?
Who would want to rape elementary schoolgirls? I don't get it.
