Child abuse is hardly a Japan-only thing. Blaming this guy's actions on "Japan" makes no sense.

just fixing one guy is not going to set an example for others. The government needs to initiate a mandatory program to counsel all parents with infants.

    babies cry because they're uncomfortable.

Young children lack the vocabulary to express their problems. That's why they whine endlessly. It's irritating, but the parent is responsible for identifying the problems and providing the vocabulary they need.

I use an A.A. Milne story that teaches, "Use your words" instead of crying to help kids know how to communicate better.

What happened to the baby!! Is he alive?? Where is the mother??? I need a better news site.

  • chotto at 08:43 AM JST - 3rd August

Someone needs to curb-stomp this guy.

And that makes you better than the bellend that cracked his son's skull, because?

I think this is sick and sad, and comes from that "toughen up" attitude. It also smells of religion, like the jibun ni kibishii type. Rage needs to be controlled, and especially in Japan, not shut off until it bursts, but let out sometimes in little bursts, in and out, just like breathing. When done this way it doesnt burst onto the most helpless person in your vicinity.

What was the guy cranky about? I dont think saying a baby crying is a reason. Babies cry, even most kids know that. Why wasnt the baby comforted regularly?

Sounds like a classic case of SBS (Shaken Baby Syndrome) of course, this involved beating, not shaking.

I know it can be frustrating for parents sometimes (I have a 3 month old son), but I don't understand how they could actually do something like this to a BABY. His OWN baby. Disgusting.

obviously an utter retard and complete imbecile for not knowing that 5-month old babies cry...please die a slow and painful death you halfwit

This sounds like a variation on the "shaken-baby syndrome" so the guy needs psychiatric help, not the gallows. The child may still die from the injuries, but as of right now he apparently lives. If the child does die and you execute the dad, then you'd also have to execute every person who strikes another in anger and that person dies. There's a difference between intending to kill someone and killing someone by accident.

Japanese parents may slap their kid's head when they act up as a form of discipline, but that only works if the kid is old enough to understand WHY he/she got slapped. A 5-month-old baby does NOT fall into this catagory and anyone who forgets this needs to be removed from the child until they can keep it foremost in their mind.

Any type of physical contact for disipline toward children is not benefitical. There is other better ways to disipline the child. Parents have big impact on conditioning of the child. If physical disipline is normal while growning up, most likely, when they grows up and become a parent, there is a higher chance they will do the same to their offsprings.

I don't usually believe in "an eye for an eye" but I'll make an exception for this tnrd.

  • mnemosyne23 at 12:55 AM JST - 5th August

Where was the mother? Did the poor infant suffer any permanent damage? I need to know these details!

Anyone who would beat their own child is utter scum. Lock him away in silent solitary confinement for a month with no contact with the outside world and watch him come out begging for the sound of a crying baby. Babies CRY. It's what they DO. Sometimes they KEEP CRYING, and there's not much you can do about it unless you've found a home remedy that helps quiet a cholicy baby. This does NOT include beating your 5-month-old son, and certainly not beating him so hard and so often that his skull cracks.

    Sick.

Put the sick dog to sleep, fast.

  • rei307 at 01:21 AM JST - 6th August

They should FIX! him so that he wouldn't have anymore babies.

  • jason6 at 04:04 PM JST - 6th August

Needs his skull cracked, government mandated. If the death penalty is OK here (that's another debate) then why shouldn't they do something much softer like breaking his head?
