Iwate police officer beats girlfriend after drunken birthday celebration

A 50-year-old police officer was arrested for allegedly beating his 49-year-old girlfriend during a fight at his home in Morioka, Iwate Prefecture, on Thursday morning. He allegedly beat the woman in the face and tried to strangle her, leaving her with severe injuries.
According to investigators, the officer, identified as Toshinori Saito, had been seeing the woman for five years and the two were engaged. Saito was off duty and the two had been celebrating his birthday with drinks at his house. Saito was quoted as saying that between the two of them, they drank two beers, 1.3 liters of sake, and about eight or nine chuhais.

betterdays...couldn't agree with you more. Especially considering he's a man and police officer, hopefully a bit 'bigger' than the average bear. I'm a woman and even I don't consider 5 beers and 500 mls of sake to be all that much! Hell...a lot of the guys I know can down a whole case (24) of beer and still function!

A beer, a few cans of Chu-hai and 650ml of sake... about a decent night where I'd still be going to work the next day. Not that it's anything to be proud of, but I've had a LOT bigger night, and I got out of it without bashing my girlfriend too.

Everyone's assuming they drank equal amounts, but my experience has been that the guys will drink more than the gals. What's your assessment of his state if he had most of the sake, most of the Chi-hai, and both beers?

Maybe his girlfriend forget to kiss him,hug him,cuddle him or make love to him on the day of his birthday.Maybe he expect too much from his girlfriend that's why he stored too much alcohol or malt on his head and gone wild and beat her.By the way who cares?Maybe by this time they are on each others arms again apologyze each other for the crazyness they have done.
