Ahhhh.... but which is worse? Nomura leaking the information to American investors???? Or, the American investors acting on the information they received from Nomura? Took two to tango here... the finger should be pointed in more than just one direction. But if Nomura had not divulged the info in the first place.... guess what... there would have been no crime just speculation. Also.... I doubt very much the "American" investor demanded that Nomura find some insider info for them... much more likely Nomura voluntarily gave out the info in order to get more business.

**I think it is a cultural issue and representative of the whole population - cannot be trusted to do the right thing.***

Just like all Americans should distrust ALL Japanese because of Pearl Harbor and the Bataan Death March? Just like ALL Chinese must think that ALL Japanese are bad and Evil because of Nanking, Shanghai and all the other atrocities of WWII?

Rather ingenuous to condemn ALL people of anywhere because of the acts of a few or in the case of the Japanese Army in WWII a rather large number but not necessarily all. Such vague accusations or rather condemnations bespeak a rather narrow mind unless of course you are trying for a touch of irony.

I am fine with catching & LOCKING UP white collar criminal WHERE EVER they are, they get away with murder & then brag how they EARN their $$$.

That said it does seem to be odd for J-authorities to be focusing on the yanks when the primary problem is Japan, by all means arrest some locals & go after the yanks, but this blurb makes it look like the locals are getting a free pass!

Although while I'm in a bad mood and logged in. The whole economic crisis was caused by scum called financial experts who are the only ones (and their friends) to profit from destrying the global economy and live high while us iof the 99% lose. They should all be made to work in burger king for 20 years.

When there is a real crisis, Japan could care less about working with America. Then there is this and Japan is on the phone right away. Gimme a break! So much for priorities!

Daijoboots: Before you comment, do some reading about Japanese financial brokers and bankers. Greed is alive and well in the Americas, Europe AND Asia.

Immoral Japanese companies leaking infomation and then when it's taken advantage of by an unscrupulous trader blame the gaijin for it. Clean your own house before slinging mud and then gain some education. It is ridiculous how Japanese always say "shoganai" at their own people's crimes but cry for blood when they see a gaijin name involved. This whole issue was started by nomura Japanese staff.

Apart from being their stock this was nothing to do with TEPCO.

I doubt that very much because TEPCO probably leaked details about their own positions and may well have been shorting their own stocks ie taking the other other side of their stock sales through other channels or some other scenario

Tens of millions of yen in fines?....this is peanuts comparing to what the institutions would have made on those transactions due to inside info...not even a slap on a wrist...Do they think this is how they eradicate this?

Apart from being their stock this was nothing to do with TEPCO. Seriously? What exactly do you think "insider trading" means?

The leak was from Nomura, anything else is speculation.

    NOMURA AGAIN??

How soon we forget that it was former Nomura scambgs with ties to WALL STREET that had coordinated the

    OLYMPUS

investment scam by yakuza front companies via off-shore banks in what-ever-its-called island in the Caribbean.

Who are these people and how are they connected??? Secret Societies???

Nomura staffs leaked it.... could there be someone behind influencing the leak for foreign investors inside Nomura? Japanese firms will sell stocks to their own people prior to foreign investors. But WTF... this people messing with trading business should be unmask and punish big time. This are the people causing the economy downfalls around the world.

How many skeletons in the TEPCO closet when it gets taken over?

  • -2

    danalawton1@yahoo.com

TEPCO is a very traditional domestic Japanese company with deep ties to the Japanese Government.... that a "gaijin" at Japan's most traditional broker would be privy to this insider information and divulge it would be very unlikely. The TEPCO deal was struck at the highest levels in Ginza at an expensive Hostess Bar... most likely around 1AM... after the Nomura Salesmen properly wined and dined their TEPCO clients. Business as ususal.

An American short traded the stock but a Japanese gave the info. It is human nature to want something for free, of course the greedy trader took the chance, BUT DON'T FORGET IT ORIGINATED HERE.

Immoral American investors at it again. I think it is a cultural issue and representative of the whole population - cannot be trusted to do the right thing.
