Seeing a pattern here. Mamasan and papsan moving drugs in/out of PI...

Better hope they've got lots of traveler's checks or cash with them... If they're lucky they can pay off the cops to look the other way for a few minutes and destroy the evidence or something...

Philippine Jail life expectancy is a very low number of years...

(I'm waiting for that Saipan guy to jump in here and say it might have been possible 20 years ago, but not now....huh...?)

Japanese man arrested at Manila's airport for having drugs, bullets

"Last Sunday, a 50-year-old Japanese woman was also arrested at the same airport for trying to sneak out 400 grams of methamphetamine."

Two Japanese doctors caught smoking pot in Indonesia the other day.

    What is Japan coming to?

Shouldn't the NPA be sending investigators to Manila? Don't they want to learn more about drugs destined for Japan?

  • CMEANDU26 at 11:20 AM JST - 19th September

The punishment for drugs in the PI is harsh. I don't think he is ready for what is going to happen to him.

The whole thing sounds like a screw-up to me.

Is it capital punishment? Sigh, why do these guys risk it?

  • IchyaParadise at 03:45 PM JST - 19th September

He is not gonna make it. He did not pay them off and it is in the news. Pretty sure Japan could give a rat's @$$ about him. There goes your 15 minutes.

  • donpa at 05:50 PM JST - 19th September

He's not gonna get capital punishment. He's gonna be incarcerated for an amount of time (depends on how much he was carrying and how the jury assumes what his reason on carrying that amount of what ever he was carrying) Intent to sell is a long jail time. If it's for personal use then shorter time of incarceration but a long time of rehabilitation. If he brought the "stuff" from japan into the Philippines then he's gonna get capital punishment, even if it was for personal use only......

oh my gosh - another japanese who was trying to smuggle drugs???? impossible. japanese people don`t do that.

  • borscht at 09:01 PM JST - 19th September

I hope Mr. Hayashi doesn't get a long prison sentence because I wouldn't wish that on anyone, unless he is a regular drug dealer.

Outofmydepth * oh my gosh - another japanese who was trying to smuggle drugs???? impossible. japanese people don`t do that.*

I hope you were being sarcastic (though I've met few Japanese that can understand sarcasm).

I know very few Japanese people get caught using because Japanese police just assume as you said it's "impossible". You know I also heard there are no lesbians in Japan, I don't believe that either. I've been hit on by a couple.

  • outofmydepth at 06:13 PM JST - 20th September

nettemarie - yep, that`s what i meant. if you ignore the problem there is not problem.

That philosophy only works for the Japanese police.

It doesn't work when wallet is empty.
