Junior high school girl arrested for stealing comics in Nara

NARA —

A 14-year-old girl was arrested for robbery and assault on Wednesday, after she pushed a 20-year-old employee of a 2nd-floor bookstore down the stairs in Kanmaki while attempting to steal some comics.

According to police, the girl was stopped near the stairs when she tried to leave the store without paying for five comic books worth about 2,000 yen in total. A female employee grabbed her by the arm but the girl broke free, pushing the employee in the chest. The employee fell down the stairs, suffering minor injuries. Other female staff were able to hold onto the girl, and she was handed over to police.

I wonder if the shop staff will face assault charges for detaining the girl. One of my mates detained a thief at his store a few months ago and cos the thief ended up bleeding my mate was locked up for 6 hours and had to face charges, which were dropped fortunately, but he didn't receive any compensation for being locked up. Did I mention he is a foreigner?

"20-year-old employee of a 2nd-floor bookstore.." Would it matter if it was a 21-year old employee of a 3rd-floor bookstore? I mean, why does ANY of that matter?

I mean after all there is a financial crisis, quite a few wars around the world, genocide, hunger, global warming, peak oil, the threat of asteroids hitting the earth and, if nothing else, the coming holidays.

    Heck,

With all that one could write a pretty good plot for a comic book!

Only 14 and she is already on the bumpy road. Here again people of Japan are participating to catch a crim, wasn’t there any security, or were they having 'tea break?'

Security? What are you talking about? It's a book shop.

Why wasn't she arrested for assault, that seems to be the bigger of offences in my humble opinion.

Not in Nara! Surely not!!! What terrible news. One of the girls in my school came in with here hair dyed red today. Will they be able to keep this out of the papers I wonder.

Yea, pushing somebody down the stairs. Assault, intention to inflict bodily harm, attempted murder. never leave justice up to the impotent judical system. You push me down the stairs, you're gonna pay.
